LSU loses bowl games.
OM loses bowl games that matter, bowl games that both teams are excited to be in.
This is the status quo for their programs, not a tale about the SEC West.

I am as big of an SEC Homer as anyone, but if the result was reversed, everyone (myself included) would have our chests out. We should own it, SEC is overrated.

Aggy beat WVU in their bowl game.
Seems only two SEC west teams have had trouble with small religious schools, while the rest have dominated the large state schools.

Not overrated.
Only LSU and Ole Miss suck.

So disregard their season? Now it just comes down bowl games? That's not the point I'm trying to make. Also, WVU was without their starting QB, no?

We're not ranked and won our bowl game. How can we be overrated? All we do is steal coaches.

Agree

Meh, I'll agree with this if MSU gets trucked by Tech, but Ole Miss had no business in this game or being in the top 10.

It's safe the say Arky was underrated...they aren't included in this discussion.
Just the SEC as a whole

College football has changed so much in the last 5 years that it is almost like college basketball where the teams with the best coaches will be the best teams.
It's not quite there yet, but close.
5 or 10 years ago the HUNH wasn't as prevalent and programs recruited more within their own recruiting base. Also, the SEC was much more committed to football as a conference than any other.
Now, with new TV contracts programs across the country are going all in with their football programs like most of the SEC has always been. They are recognizing that you have to supplement your recruiting base with players from the South, and the HUNH is drastically changing the game.
It's just different now. The SEC set a bar for others to reach, and they are proceeding to do so. The SEC will always have a talent advantage, but not nearly as much so. Therefore, coaching will play a much bigger part.
I also think that the motivation factor for teams playing against the SEC works against SEC teams, as everyone wants to see the bully get beat up. Other conferences' coaches are tired of hearing it ala Bob Stoops, so they show up highly motivated.
So, essentially yes, the gap has closed.

This isn't the SEC'S strongest year... but, we're up 4-2 in bowls... and people are judging an entire conference based off of ONE terrible game vs an opponent that is very good compared to any team.
Yep, everything is normal! Lol.
The SEC is top heavy for now. But no one can win them all. I do agree ole miss is going to hurt our case temporarily in terms of public perception tho. And it's a fair single argument... but thankfully Arkansas went out and whipped some arse. Georgia went out and whipped some arse. LSU kept it very competitive, South Carolina whipped some arse... Texas a&m whipped some arse.
HOPEFULLY Bama puts an exclamation at the end. But this is ALL why they play the game on the field!

Ole miss wasn't as good as TCU. Ole Miss fully healthy wasn't as good as TCU. LSU, playing their #2's, should have beaten ND.

That's not at all what I'm doing. Look at where the SEC started, and now look at them.
But like I said maybe it was one year and I'll be proven wrong. Maybe this was just a fluke year. But I've been noticing this gap closing for a couple years.
Or maybe it's just the extreme SEC homerism that has turned me off.
