Nor should it.

However...

If you are not offended or surprised that college basketball threads here get a couple of "its basketball who cares" around here its either hypocritical or just plain funny that folks get upset when there is the same responses to a sport that is far less popular than basketball

I agree and never talk bad about basketball. I wish LSU was worth a shite at it though.

First off, sports are dumb.

The "relevance" is solely determined by the people who enjoy a given sport.

When I see yankee schools selling out 100k tickets for outdoor hockey in the freezing cold, I feel like they are almost from a different country than me. I don't hate on it, but its just not my thing. Its not a part of my life and so I find it surprising that so many people care about college hockey.

In the south, we like college baseball. SEC baseball games are fun. They are well-attended, and a really relaxing environment in which to support your alma mater (or your tshirt school of choice).

I like that we are in the minority in liking CBB. It reminds me of why I like the South. Its different.

I don't think anyone who says that college baseball is as popular as women's volleyball in the south is at risk of being labeled a thinking man.

Yep, a mid tier average team in a mid tier average hoops conference. Sucks. But gotta stay optimistic, maybe they'll be hot for the autobid conference tournament....maybe.

I agree and the only time I disparage college ball is to rustle up a few deserving jimmies on the SECr but this thread was just asking for this discussion.

Yes, and to even suggest baseball is on the same level by any measure as either football or basketball is laughable.

There are like five schools in the SEC that really, truly care about baseball and they happen to be the five schools here on this board with the most posters. Out in the real world, even in SEC country, hardly any one cares even a little bit about college baseball.

And some people like volleyball.
I don't think fans of baseball or volleyball care whether or not someone else thinks the sport is/isn't "relevant"

some here tend to overstate it's importance in the grand scheme of college athletics.

I haven't seen anyone do that.
But so what if someone does?
How is that any skin off of your nose?

I despise basketball. I don't watch it, nor do I care a lick about it.
And recognizing that basketball fans dont give a crap what I think, that's the first time I've ever said that here.
Instead, I simply choose not to click basketball threads.

Who knows--maybe I'm an outlier on the whole deal?
Then again, I attended a university that doesn't choose to do things a certain way, "just because everyone else does."

I'm talking nationwide here. Volleyball is big on the West coast.

Yea the main point of this thread should be if you don't like baseball, basketball, or whatever sport and you see a thread about it why the frick would you feel a need to go in said thread and tell the people in there that you don't care? Different strokes for different folks.

Ruh roh. Now I won't cheer for my alma mater's team playing America's pastime.

You sure are taking this personally. I cheer for my alma mater in baseball and watch nearly all the games. Even went to most home games when I was a student.

The leading school for paid attendance on the West coast had an average of 2,432 while being located in a huge city, only hosting 17 matches and never having to deal with weather.

The OP isn't that intelligent. He got caught in a lie in his original post and is trying to save face.

No, I'm genuinely asking you to link me to all these mythical posters who claim that college baseball is as popular as college basketball.

The total attendance at the end of the year for several SEC schools will show a higher number of attendees for baseball than for basketball.

Hell, we even did it Pelphrey's last year at Bud Walton.

I've never heard that either. I think most P&G baseball fans could care less if no one watched. I don't watch MLB at all, just a few SEC games. I either attend or watch the LSU baseball games because I follow the team and enjoy it.
