Using them as an example to support my theory. Auburn only running 3 plays supports it even more of you're able to take away the middle and have a guy outside to stay disciplined. The 4th down stop Hubbard made in the IB is a perfect example of what I'm trying to get at. The only thing wrong is AU has a QB who runs a 4.3 going on the outside, while also having a FB, a pulled guard, and a RB who can get YAC going up the middle.
It is all about the pace and wearing out the defense. If you take away the middle, the outside is open or the passing game opens up. Miss St vs AU game last year is a prime example. MSU stopped the middle and slowed down Marshall, but he even passed for over 330 yards. AU was one dimensional for the most part, but even the haters saw what they could be with a passing game.

Clemson did dominate LSU. The LSU defense is the only thing that kept the game close. Revisit the box score. Clemson held the LSU running game in check. Their defense allowed 2 huge runs: 1 after a star offensive player was knocked out the 1st play of the game, the second after a huge kickoff return. Other than that, LSU had little going for them on offense.
Jeremy Hill had 120 yards on 10 carries and 2 TDs. Miles, Mett, and Vadal Alexander are to blame for that game.

I think saban has figured out spread O's. He just can't do much with good ones............especially fast paced ones. He lives off of subbing in for situations. He can't do that against pace teams. That is the main reason he tried to get the rules changed.

No chance.
They wont even approve Auburn fans' request to post there.
It's like a secret group of a dozen people that wont let anyone else join the club.
Even Auburn alumni and season ticket holders.

Saban is finished. I applaud your astute observation. You are ahead of the curve and it is only a matter of time.

people seem to forget about the dropped TD from Cooper in that game. Did they get any points out of that drive? Bama played like shite that game

quote:Saban can stop spread offenses of teams that they have way more talent than, like OM. Its teams that run HUNH spread offenses and have top talent that Saban has trouble with. I think Saban knows what he has to do to defend the HUNH but he doesn't want to change his entire philosophy to accomplish it.
Saban has been a demigod to the Alabama faithful. Unfortunately he has one flaw: His defenses can't stop spread offenses. Will Gus continue his dominance over Saban or will Saban finally figure things out?
Saban's system relies mostly on talent advantage and his players each doing a set assignment (him doing most of the thinking and his players doing very little). Because this, when his teams play offenses that force them to break assignment (smart X's and O's) or figure out what to do on the fly (other players breaking their assignments) they are lost or don't know how to respond as well as players that are taught to adjust and figure out what to do, on their own, when things break down. Its made worse if the teams start going HUNH and some don't get their assignments to start with.
Saban would have to allow his players to make more of their own decisions, which he isn't going to do. It would lead to more of them jumping their assignments to try to make plays when things haven't broken down and lead to more big plays given up. Plus there is no telling how Smart or Saban would be at teaching/running that style of Defense.

Solid breakdown
In all seriousness, he did post a solid analysis.

dude, the only end to saban is when he retires. we have recruited lots of speed in the front seven to counteract the speed of the spread. Look for bama to do much better against the spread this year. Oh and sorry for the grammar my shift key is acting up so I can't capitalize every letter that I need to.
