Ha why do you call it the meat market?

Avondale Brewing Company

Good People Brewing Co.

Das Haus

Pale Eddie's Pour House

That should keep you in "real" beer for your stay. For just a good $10 meat and three lunch hit Niki's West off Finley.

Niki's West
It is a forty-five minute drive one way for me. Worth it too.

Is Superior Bar and Grill still open on 280? I know it was hopping for Happy Hour with killer Margaritas when I lived there for a few nightmare years.

Still there and very good.

GianMarco's in Homewood. Best restaurant in Bham IMO.

Chez fonfon and Highlands bar and Grill are two places I love.

That's the correct answer.

And Hastings at Hot and Hot learned everything he knews from Frank Stitt at Highlands, far from a genius.

Bright Star in Bessemer for Greek or Fox Vally for Crab Cake and Filet. Two of the best.

It's a meat market because that's where all the singles go.

Not affiliate with Dyrons. Used to go there when it was Mauby's.

As far as bars go, check out The Garage if you get a chance. It's a really chill place. Cool bartenders, lots of room, and the best courtyard of any bar I've ever been to. It's a great place to start or end the night.

With some of the recommendations here . . . I didn't realize so many yuppies frequent this site. Bottega? Really? This is TD, not GQ.

Another great place off 5 points downtown is 26 for lunch AMAZING food and different menu items (try Mac and Cheese specialty don't care what's in it chef changes it every day) parking is valet since it is tight quarters, GREAT place very art deco, only open for Lunch but def worth a try

I miss Doodles in Fultondale and Pete's famous HotDogs, standing room only every time and I've eaten a hot dog standing in there with Mal Moore, Ozzie Newsome, and Broadway Joe when I was too little to realize who any of them were, but my dad still has the picture

Lloyd's is also good, Fish Market DOWNTOWN is AMAZING don't go pay 3$ extra across from the Galleria in a much less fun restaurant atmosphere, if you go there be sure and get the Lobster Bisque and any fish blackened (personal favorite is Mahi Mahi) with Greek style rice and potatoes anything fried is really good as well , but it is Greek so blackened is another level, also if you like Greek salad it is really good, tell George Sarris Hi for me, huuuuuge Bama fan

Mmmmm wanna go there now lol

For Mexican I found Iguana grill to be better than Superior Grill.

If you are into Greek food The Pita Stop is pretty solid. Looks like a little hole in the wall, but the food is pretty authentic.

Menu

For BBQ there are lots of options, but I like Jim and Nicks just off 280.
