Football should be weighted more, baseball weighted less.

Needs some sort of national championship bonus (small bonuses for Final Fours, CWS for the other sports).

I thought about this, but at the same time you would be rewarding extra points to a team when they could have easily not won a tournament had it taken place. Maybe 1.25 points would be best for a football championship

Your system needs adjustment. Doing well in only basketball or only baseball doesn't mean anything overall - except in your mind.

Kentucky:
Football- 0 championships = 0 points
Basketball- 13 outright + 5 shared + 15 tourney = 23 pts
Baseball- 1 outright + 0 tourney = 1 point
Total- 0 + 23 + 1 = 24 POINTS

Mississippi State:
Football- 0 championships = 0 points
Basketball- 1 outright + 1 shared + 3 tourney = 3 points
Baseball- 4 outright + 7 tourney = 7.5 points
Total- 0 + 3 + 7.5 = 10.5 POINTS

Or at least football should be weighted the same as basketball and baseball. OP has basketball and baseball weight 50% more than football. Strange.

Football should definitely be weighted more. Much more, in fact.

99% of fans would take a division title in football over an outright conference title in baseball.

That's not true, just because you won the regular season championship in baseball or basketball doesn't mean you automatically get the extra 0.5 for the tournament championship, you have to earn it.

Think about it like this, in baseball and basketball, you can not win the regular season championship, but still get points for that year if you win the tourney. So I think it probably comes out in the wash.

ONCE AGAIN, this is a Power Rating for the Big 3 sports, not just for football. If you want to make a football power rating, have at it buddy. But this power rating is based on the Big 3 sports, and if you don't like it you can bump a stump.

I laid the criteria out there and created the rankings on historical facts. Sounds like some are butt hurt.

Bottom line is your power ratings provide more weight to basketball and baseball than to football. If you were trying to assign a power rating giving equal weight to the "Big 3" sports, then you failed. If you were trying to tilt the power rating towards basketball and baseball success, then good job. It's your power rating so only you know for sure what you were trying to do.

Only an idiot would rate the success of football on the same level as basketball and baseball when it comes to a power rating in a conference where football is king. You'd have to be borderline retarded to rate it BELOW the other two, which you have.

As an LSU fan, weighting the criteria would hurt my team.

National Championships obviously won't factor into any sort of rankings from a Mississippi State fan.

No problem.

To be fair, you should pro-rate the points for A&M and Mizz so:

Tx A&M 1 pt per 5 years x 8 = 8 total points

Mizz 0 pt per 5 years x 8 = 0 points

=)

I'll count football championships as 1.333 points, not gonna give a full 0.5 because I simply don't think it would be fair to get a free 0.5 without having to win a tournament. Anyway, since this is a Football conference, here you go:

1. Florida (31.16 pts)
2. LSU (27.83 pts)
3. Kentucky (24 pts)
4. Alabama (22.83 pts)
5. Auburn (12 pts)
6. Georgia (11.5 pts)
7. Tennessee (11 pts)
8. Mississippi State (10.5 pts)
9. Vanderbilt (6 pts)
10. South Carolina (4 pts)
11. Arkansas (4.0 pts)
12. Ole Miss (3.5 pts)
13***. Texas A&M (1 pt)
14. Missouri (0 pts)

I think for football you need to add .5 to outright, .25 to shared, to make it even.

Says this while simultaneously rating football below basketball and baseball in a power ranking.......Makes sense.

Well, everyone seems to be in agreement that football should have, at minimum, an equal point total as the other two.

You could start there rather than continuing to give it fewer points.

If football championships were changed to 1.5 points, the ranking would stay the same except Bama would jump Kentucky for the #3 spot by 0.5 points.
