Why no UCF is beyond me with the way they are growing and the Orlando market. Yes the Big 3 in FL will always dominate, now becoming a Big 2, but personally go with Cincy and UCF.

Tulane has too many factors going against it, namely they just dont care enough.

UCF would be such a geographical nightmare. I mean, maybe that is where they go, but flying a women's bowling team to the middle of Florida from Ames on a Wednesday just can't be very appealing.

Facts are, there just aren't any overly appealing options for them at this point. They are just as likely to fold in the future as expand.

Seems legit

West Virginia is already way out for travel purposes so going to any school in FL would be even worse. I still laugh that the B12 thought they were too good for the Line Beards yet took TCU (overlap of existing market) and WVU (not good in any sport) in realignment. The best realignment means expanding the footprint to adjoining states. B12 is a failure as…

NM - touches TX and OK but no real schools to choose from
CO - touches OK and KS but the #1 school left for the PAC. no real good #2
NE - touches KS and IA but left for the B1G. no real 2nd choice in state
SD - touches IA but no real schools to choose from
MN - touches IA but B1G state
WI - touches IA but B1G state
IL - touches IA but B1G state
MO - touches IA but only 1 school and they left for the SEC
AR - touches OK and TX but only 1 school and they left for the SEC
LA - touches TX, but #1 is already SEC and #2 was SEC

I've always said due to this recent expansion they also need to fit geography into this somehow. Good fits for Big 12 would be

Arky- Naturally- still consider them SWC team
LSU- Probably should have been an SWC from the start. Not really in the southeast.
Mizzou-Fits nicely-was a member at one time
A&M- goes without saying

The SEC then slides in

UNC-Good for roundball-great games with UK every year. Would give us the Carolina markets.
FSU-Should be SEC anyway and would make the Florida rivalry even more relevent
Miami- Would make the FSU game even more relevent
Clemson-Would make the USCe game even more relevent

I didn't say we were an auto-win. We do our part!

For example, the Stoernover in '98 so Tennessee can win it all. If Stoerner hadn't fumbled while kneeling to run out the clock, then Arkansas would have beat #1 Tennessee in Knoxville and ended the Vols hope of winning the first BCS title.

Your welcome!

Actually, there was a bad call prior to that play. A possession earlier, the Arkansas punter (Akin) kicked a bad snap backwards through the endzone behind him for a safety. At that time, the proper call would have been to give UT the ball at the spot that it was kicked...so, instead of being down 22-24...UT would have been down 24-20 with the ball on the Arkansas 20 yard line (with just under 3 minutes in regulation). If the punter was in the endzone when he kicked it, it would have been a touchback. Because he was in the field of play, it was supposed to be a loss of down penalty.

A bad call is what led to the Stoerner fumble even being relevant.

Bingo, this makes the most sense for ratings and recruiting.

This advertises Texas and Oklahoma to the Florida and Ohio recruits.

Not sure either really work but at least UC makes WVU less of an island.

Memphis and Cincinnati make the most sense from a market standpoint. It also bridges the league geographically.

Yup. The Big 12 just needs a little success from Memphis first.

Legit options:

Memphis
Cincy
UCF
SMU
Houston
Tulane?
ND State
BYU

Cincy seems like a no-brainer. Creeps into BIG territory, give WV a island companion, and just generally makes sense.

From there (if only adding 2), Memphis, SMU, or Houston make the most sense to me. Maybe they add all 4 to catch up to 4 teams, or perhaps go 6 and go all the way to "superconference."

Orlando is a pretty major city?

Can't be harder than flying from Ames to Pittsburgh then driving down to Morgantown.

Exactly and everyone acts like UCF and Cincy would be terrible picks cause they don't dominate their state or their fans "don't care" as much.

Well look at South Carolina before they came into the SEC. Clemson ran that state and SC was a disaster. The SEC has made their program into a viable solid top 25 program because of the potential they've always had with a great fanbase in a good state.

Well I imagine UCF is just like that. Their fanbase would instantly get much more involved if Texas, Oklahoma, TCU, Baylor, WVU and K St. started to come to town in football and KU and the rest of the Basketball teams did as well.

They are in a Huge city that just keeps growing and could really take off.

Cincy is doesn't have the high end potential as UCF but they would be a very SOLID choice and help out WVU.

They are by far the best two selections for them IMO.

Rice does have the potential for a 70,000 seat stadium.

I guess - if you don't consider Dixie the southeast.

At least LSU is on the East Bank - as opposed to Arkansas, Missouri and A&M who are all on the West Bank.
