I doubt that the Big 12 will take either Memphis or MTSU when they do decide to expand.

In that case, thank you for being an auto-win for the Big 6 en route to numerous championships.

I didn't say we were an auto-win. We do our part!

For example, the Stoernover in '98 so Tennessee can win it all. If Stoerner hadn't fumbled while kneeling to run out the clock, then Arkansas would have beat #1 Tennessee in Knoxville and ended the Vols hope of winning the first BCS title.

Your welcome!

If you take Tulane, you are looking to build, not looking at what is there.

If you are Iowa State or Kansas state a trip to NOLA is a godsend over Waco or Lubbock.

I agree, but that was response to taking Memphis.

Tulane would be a very long range vision kind of pick and it seems like gambling a lot for a conference looking to buck up their interests in the more short to medium term.

They have a 20k stadium in a place that it can't easily be expanded. Are they going to go back to hosting in the Superdome when they play teams that actually bring lots of fans.

The issue of being a primarily academic institution is an issue for college football as well. Although there are handful of really academic schools with BCS football programs (Stanford, NW, Vanderbilt, and Duke) IMO there is going to be more and more pressure in the coming decade on the primarily academic institutions to think about down-scaling or removing their football programs.

Memphis and Cincinnati make a lot more sense for a lot of reasons but that's JMO

Same could have been said about TCU. A bunch of NOLA kids could win the Big 12 and people would be interested. It's the nature of the bandwagon, and Cajuns aren't immune from it.

Except there would've been a rematch in the SECCG, with the winner going on to play FSU.

The B12 was desperate when they added TCU (and WVU for that matter). The majority of FCS programs have bigger stadiums than Tulane.

The Big 12 isn't exactly a cavalcade of giant stadiums. TCU and Baylor both recently renovated and downsized in the process.

Aside from academics, travel distance, metro city, and a host of other issues the biggest may be pride. Taking Tulane means adding a charter SEC school and getting into an SEC state now that the SEC is back in TX. As AR and MO are single state schools, nobody to take there and going to the west means NM and nothing exciting there.

If Cincinnati is the other school then they have the perfect model already in place. Bearcats play most all games at home but play Paul Brown (NFL Bengal) when they can sell 50K to 60K seats. Tulane could follow the same model.

Bottom line is all the best options are already off the table, so going to 12 now means taking a program with fleas and hoping you can build them up.

This would raise their likeability factor from the hit it takes by haveing Texas in there.

I say grab North Dakota State. They've already proven they can slap around top Big 12 teams while terrorizing the Big Ten as well. They may only have a handful of fans but those fans will damn sure tune in even if they are playing Iowa State.

Not to mention having a team around that is used to winning championships and expects to do so might rub off on the rest of the Big 12.

Not like most if not all the current B12 cities are great places to visit for a sporting event

DFW, good (but NOLA still better)

Austin and Norman, OK but not great

Stillwater, Waco, Ames, Lawrence, Manhattan, Lubbock, and Morgantown, NO!

I hope they take Cincy. Tubbs tried like hell to get out of the Big 12, only to be sucked back in a few years later.

While North Dakota State may have done great recently against FBS teams besides Kansas State it's not like they've played great teams. But I do think they need to move up to the FBS.

2014 Iowa State 2-10
2013 Kansas State 8-5
2012 Colorado State 4-8
2011 Minnesota 3-9
2010 Kansas 3-9

They should grab Kennesaw St before they join the Sun Belt and the buyout gets too high for the poor Bev12..
