Welcome to the world of beating a team and that team's fanbase finding every excuse under the sun as to why they lost. We've been hearing it since week 3.

Yeah, I don't think we win without the onside kick. We weren't in control of the game from the end of the Henry touchdown all the way until that play. We were on our heels for the next two quarters. After the onside kick, we were never behind again, and were up by two scores at two different points in the game.

it changed the game completely. Stole a possession back, and put us on the offensive. Without it, I think Alabama's chance to win was probably at 45-50%, after it and the ensuing TD, I think it rose to like 80%.

The truth is we don't know for sure either way but it was undoubtedly the biggest momemntum shift of the game. Drake's K.O. return is being undervalued though IMo.

Have to admit that was a thing of beauty, one of the best I've seen, college or pro. (My favorite one though was on a Feb. night in Miami 6 years ago :)

I don't think anyone is undervaluing that. But it never felt like Bama had full control until the onside kick. I'm telling you this as an outside source who was rooting for Clemson.

It was obvious after the onside kick who was going to win.

Clemson probably should be cocky. Watson is taking them straight back and that offense will be more of a handful next year. Also, there's more Dodds in the wings.

You gotta admit, Clemson is building something special.

I think even Nick Saban would disagree with you on this.

No doubt. Until Saban has a stroke (he is aging-his hair dye isn't fooling me) and Dabo takes the Bama gig.

I don't remember Clemson having 5 turnovers. Can you imagine how bad Bama beats them if they turned the ball over 5 times? It would t have been close.

Probably the best play call in a championship game that I've ever seen. But I smoked a buncha pot in college and my memory is pretty fricked.

Ah so a Bama fan finds the "we beat ourselves" or "gimmick play" defense for a loss annoying? That is wonderful

You can't use turnovers as an excuse when Alabama is the one turning it over. That's part of the game. Turn the ball over enough and you can lose to anyone. Same could be said for basketball.
