I'll try. I don't like Nutt or Mustain.

Mustain's a good kid. He never showed anything but class at Arkansas.

His momma did the unclassy acts for him.

He's got more courage and class than most people on this board.

This is a blanket statement which you would have no honest idea about if you are realistic as you know none of us.

quote:

If he's such a bad kid, show me one quote, or one interview where he's ever represented himself as anything remotely close to that.

I give you this one.

8-0 as a starter at Arkansas. It takes a lot of creativity to hate the kid.

Darren Mcfadden, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis went 8-0 at Arkansas when Mustain was starting. All he did was hand the ball off mostly.

And those three went 2-4 when somebody else was handing off the ball to them mostly. 6-11 when you throw in the previous year.

As an aside, after going back and looking at the records again, it's stunning to note that teams with Mcfadden, Jones and Hillis in the backfield only managed to go a 13-11 in SEC play. Frick you, Nutt.

I'm sure his mommy is very upset at this and will transfer to a Div 2 school so he can play (maybe)

For all or you stating that it was a mistake for Mitch to transfer to USC, how the hell do any of you know? He may be very happy at USC. Did that thought ever cross any of your minds? Maybe he wants to coach some day and is there a better coach to learn under than Pete Carroll? Mitch rolled the dice and apparently it didn’t' work out for him. So fricking what. At least he wasn't afraid to compete and that is what matters most. What level of athletics have any of you competed at?

I would venture to say that most of you didn’t even compete in athletics at the college level and even if you did it certainly wasn’t at the level of USC. Maybe Mitch would rather be 3rd team at USC than start at some smaller school but I suppose all of you making such a statement know what's best for him, right? Just like a Washington politician. They always know what's better for you than you do.

I'm no Springdale supporter and in fact we had a great rivalry with Springdale in baseball for the 10 years I coached against them. I don't know Mitch personally but I know many that do and I observed him from afar and saw nothing that would lead me to believe he was anything like many of you portray. It amazes me that you human behavior experts can form such opinions about Mitch from just reading message boards and letting someone else, who doesn't know fricking shite about the situation, form your opinion about the kid. You should be proud or yourselves.

Damian Williams left Arkansas before the Capitol One Bowl but I never see any post about him “leaving the team”. I wonder why? Williams, like Mustain knew Nutt was a dumb shite and neither one of then were going to play for him until Malzahn was named OC. Once that went south neither of them wanted any part of Nutt and who the hell could blame them? I sure don’t. In fact, when Williams left he made a statement, and I paraphrase, I’m not going to be part of what’s going on up there. Williams knew the truth and he wasn’t going to be part of it. Personally, I couldn’t care less if Mitch ever plays a down at USC but he and Williams will always be remembered fondly in my mind as they were partially responsible in finally getting rid of Nutt and the arse Clown Posse.

I'm not saying he's a bad person, but from a 3rd party perspective, Mustain is immature, lazy, and a waste of talent.

He helped rid you of Nutt so I can understand why you still defend him. I'm sure you love Damian Williams too... I get it.

No. I'm just tired of all the fricking misinformation about Mitch and what went on from people, who don’t even know Mitch or anything about the damn situation he was in, make comments about him. Mitch did not once make any sort of disparaging remark about the situation or Nutt when he decided to leave for USC yet he has been vilified and painted as some sort or spoiled brat who was afraid to compete. That’s fricking laughable.

Did I say I loved him? I'm just tired of message board know-it-all experts who no NOTHING about him or his situation, make disparaging remarks about him. Takes real courage to vilify a kid on a message boards, doesn't it?

And yes, I do have a soft spot in my heart for young men who don’t have a father figure in their lives to help guide and raise them. About half of the players I coached over the years came from fatherless homes and I always tried to be a father figure to them, not constantly paint them as "immature, lazy and a waste of talent".

It’s comical to read how most Rebel fans justified Nutt benching Mitch because Casey was better while a few of you claim that Mitch was a “waste of talent". Well, which is it Johnny Reb? You can’t have it both ways.

For the love of God, please tell me what that was. Everyone likes to repeat this load of bullshite, but never EVER points to a specific incident.

Since I'm so ignorant, could you PLEASE do that for me?

So, Pete Carroll not only recruits but lets immature, lazy players hang around his program? On top of that, I doubt an immature, lazy player would have been in a heated battle for the #1 QB job last year with Mark Sanchez....who just happens to be starting for that little team called the Jets 12 months later.

Your current head coach's good pals harrassed the kid.

Your current head coach's wife forwarded an email sent to Mustain and remarked that she thought it was "quite funny".

In spite of these facts, and the fact that your current head coach was in close contact with both the emailer and his wife during that time period, your current head coach claimed he had no knowledge of the email harrassment until two months later.

I don't care if Mitch Mustain was the biggest prima donna ever to play college football, there's no excuse for the behavior of the Nutt family degenerates. He was an 18 year old kid. They are supposed to be adults.

So, yeah. Its not hard for a neutral observer to draw the conclusion that Mustain got shafted at Arkansas.

He was 8-0 as a starter, yet the coach's friends and family hated his guts, and harrassed him.

Defend that.

Not saying it is or isn't.....but you can have it both ways.

There are loads of athletes who have all the talent in the world but have a shitty mentality......thus creating a "wast of talent".

SINCE WHEN DID PETE CARROLL START RECRUITING LAZY LOSERS, AND THEN START LETTING THEM HANG AROUND?

Mustain got benched after not losing a game. Fine. Thats questionable in itself.

Throw in the fact that the kid is receiving emails from the coach's CLOSE FRIEND who is ON THE SIDELINE, and that the COACH'S wife is forwarding that email around town, remarking that she found it "quite funny"....

HOW THE frick DO YOU DEFEND THAT?

How is a kid, an 18 year old, supposed to thrive in that environment?

I don't care if Mitch Mustain was a 3rd string punt catcher. He was shafted and mis-treated by the Nutt family. They crossed all kinds of lines with this kid.

Its called professionalism.

In the case of Mitch Mustain, he showed class and humility.

But if he was your brother or your son, and he was subjected to the things he was subjected to by the Nutt coaching staff and family, you wouldn't question for a second why he transferred.

read this again....this was me stating that I wasn't referring to this general situation....but that you can have great talent and waste it through a shitty mentality.

Of course....please show me where I specifically used Mitch as an example

Immature - See tenure at UPIG. Coaches called him "high school" and everyone knows about the parental incident. Numerous hog fans on here have said he's a douchebag.

Lazy - can barely pass enough classes at USC to stay on the team this summer.

Waste of Talent - 5 star QB in high school with plenty of physical tools.

I'm not saying I know everything about Mustain and his situation and I'm not exonerating Nutt. Nutt obviously made mistakes too... I'm jus sayin.
