Bama scheduled and played Michigan to start the season...Michigan was supposed to be a player this year...can't blame Bama for that.

That's only part of it. Nobody expected Florida to be here at this point in the season. When you start out without the hype of a title contender, it takes more time to overcome the teams who were believed to be up there (either by your own team winning over perceived contenders, or the perceived contenders losing or looking very bad).

Poll are only partially based on merit. A win is a win is a win. When it is all said and done, LSU beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa last year. That's the goal, to win. You don't play for style points. But if they had won by 21 the first time, instead of 3, they play Oklahoma State in the Natty instead of the tide. Style points matter to the voters. Impressive is all relative to the narrative they want to give. If Driskel had charisma and charm like Tebow, people would be going insane clamoring for them to be number 1. Instead, the media finds it easier to sell the "Nick Saban blue print" dynasty. It is all about what is easy for the writers. Simple as that.

I completely disagree. When a team isnt challenged in the entirity of its schedule, and another team won all their games, but maybe not as impressively as the first team, its a no brainer which one should be ranked the higher team and it has nothing to do with what the media can and cant sell.

When the product on the field speaks for itself, there is no need to sell. So far, Alabama's product hasnt spoken for itself, its pretty well fricking screamed it, without actually having to say a fricking word.

Truth.

That being said, Bama is the clear #1 to me. They have a typical Saban awesome defense and they can both throw and run the ball on the other side. An offense that can control the clock, but also get guys out of the box with throws makes them very tough to beat tied in with that defense.

I just haven't seen a reason yet that Bama is not the best team in the land.

Alabama hasn't played anyone. Them not being challenged in the entirety of it's schedule is just as impressive as the Boise State teams of years past saying that very thing. Florida has beaten a top ten BCS team. How do you justify your line of logic without simultaneously being the biggest Boise State fan when they were rolling teams by 80?

You can't. You are acting like a female. You've formed an opinion based on emotion, and are trying to justify it with reason. Typical gump.

First off, I thought it was obvious when I said "entirety of it's schedule" that I wasn't making a direct reference, but using it as an analogy. The second part of the post is the part that deals directly with Alabama. By the time we finish the season, we will have beaten at least 2 top 10 teams, possibly 3 if Miss St creeps up a couple spots with a win this weekend.

And as far as that last line, my reputation on this board speaks for itself. Try forming your own reputation that doesnt involve being one of the most annoying members of your fanbase before you start talking that kind of shite to me.

We don't need to fall in to this Skip-Bayless-esque line of hyperbolic opinions about things. "Best team in the land" is relative. They might be, and probably are. But the gap between 1 and 2 and 3 is never as wide as the grand canyon. They look good, but why do we need sports writers that are looking for the easy and sensationalist opinions to attract readers to unanimously agree to that? Alabama will have their chance to win. That is really all that matters. Who gives a frick what the modern journalist thinks?

Why does anyone care??? It's all gonna play itself out whether Bama is ranked #1 or not. Let the schedule take care of itself. Bama will mow every one of them down and will beat the east rep in the SECcg. I'm not worried about it cause Bama is the complete and dominant team.

Okay. But that hasn't happened yet. So your opinion doesn't make sense. You haven't gone through that schedule and "not been challenged". It hasn't happened yet.

The problem is that there has to be a #1 right now, and there isnt a single team in the country that has performed to the level that Alabama has. Therefore, there is really only 1 logical answer to who that team is and it can't be based on anything other than what they have done so far.

So easy, even if they drop one game they will only drop to # 2 or 3

Johnny ain't been hit like the Bama defense is going to hit him. And your Big 12 defense hasn't seen an offense like Bama has either. Tennessee is all we need to worry about right now.

Nope. The Champion has to lose to be dethroned.

And this is absolutely fine. But it can't be for the reason that they have gone through their schedule and "not been challenged". This is all I'm saying. You didn't need to get your panties in a wad.

Now that you made a rational opinion, you sound better. I stand by my original "insult", if that's what you view it as.

You havent been watching Alabama football for very long if you really think Jizz Jar Johnny scares even a single Alabama fan, player, or coach. Saban will claim that he is terrified of him because it is part of his schtick. But I can assure you that by the time that game is over people are going to be asking "Who the frick is Johnny Football and why is his jizz jar sticking sideways out of his arse?"
