They've played a Boise St schedule so far. It seems their hype for just being Bama and easy schedule rather than their play has led to their ranking. Like LSU before they played UF.
Also that they backdoored their way in to the Natty last year after not deserving it, and beat LSU in the midst of a locker room revolt.

Whining about Bama's schedule from a team who has been shitted on for the past 3 previous games.....Yea it's all hype.

Check the AU board out. Ms. Garrison thinks they get their first SEC win this year against TAM. Not Vandy but TAM.

The voters can see that Bama has not struggled at all against their "easy" schedule. What more could you possibly expect from them thus far?
While the "#2" fail to even do that....is it true UF has failed to score 40 points once this season?
Even U freakin K put up 40 points.

I think Bama deserved to be in the game as much as anyone else. 2011 was a year in which LSU shouldn't have had to play a championship game. Their regular season was that good imo. But the BCS is not set up that way. In the '60s LSU would have been declared champion before the bowl.

Sometimes I feel like these homers don't actually watch these teams play

Florida should easily be #1 right now.
But it really makes little difference.
I prefer Alabama nice and comfy in the #1 slot.

Based on what? Beating an LSU team with no offense to speak of at home in Gainesville? You can point out LSU's win over South Carolina all you want to but I was never convinced that SC was a great team. They are a good team but I had them pegged to go 9-3 this year.

Well, Florida has the more impressive resume up to this point...
I think the polls are the only thing keeping Bama in the #1 spot in the BCS.

We're also #3 in the computers, with two of those computers having us at #1.

The catch-22 for Florida is that if you go by strength of schedule alone, Notre Dame should probably be #1. So it's hard to make a case where Florida comes out on top, unless you add in some very subjective evaluations of opponents.

Yes, because the humans voting in the polls are the only possible factor that takes into account watching them play and witnessing how oppressingly dominant they are. Wins and losses arent the beginning and end, its the fashion in which you do it as well. When you are destroying every team put in front of you like Alabama has done so far, its hard to NOT put them at #1. Florida hasnt done anything similar to warrant the same love.

There is no doubt in my mind Alabama is the better team which is why they are ranked #1.
However, if you go off of what the teams have done so far this season...Florida is more impressive right now and it's not Alabama's fault they haven't played better competition.

Poll are only partially based on merit. A win is a win is a win. When it is all said and done, LSU beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa last year. That's the goal, to win. You don't play for style points. But if they had won by 21 the first time, instead of 3, they play Oklahoma State in the Natty instead of the tide. Style points matter to the voters. Impressive is all relative to the narrative they want to give. If Driskel had charisma and charm like Tebow, people would be going insane clamoring for them to be number 1. Instead, the media finds it easier to sell the "Nick Saban blue print" dynasty. It is all about what is easy for the writers. Simple as that.
