THIS is exactly what I was hoping someone would bring up.

I bet we could play any team, save Oregon or A&M because of Manziel and we would still be a top 10 or top 5 defense.

WHY? Because of the field, not who we play and how "lucky" our schedule is.

Many times stats is about the competition a team faces. Bama and LSU has top-10 talent on defense obviously, but even top-10 talent won't rank nationally in the top-10 because of a tough schedule when other schools play shittier competition. Now if we look at Top-10 defenses against BCS competition, you can start to have a legitimate discussion..

Holding Alabama or Georgia to 14-17 is way more fricking impressive than holding West Carolina to 3 IMO.

I think our defense is top 5 overall defense in any way you slice it, except for taking each group and giving it a rating.

Obviously, right now it's hard to give secondary an A rating.

It is possible that this D ends the year giving up less than 300yds/game. In most years, that would be good for a top 10 D.

Want a flame war? Ok here goes.

Just for you pumpkin. Sunseri sucks. He gets Ints off tipped passes like teo last season.

Belue is your best corner and he got abused all of last year.

You get the best talent in the nation annually, yet you find a way to piss at least one game away annually

Your players flame out in the nfl because they have to finally face even and fair competition.

LSU has a freshman cornerback better than any corner on your roster.

Kwon Alexander

Oregon would rape Alabama in any of the last four seasons.

LSU owns Bryant Denny stadium

Luther Davis.

Definitely agreed. I THINK we will prove ourselves until the end of the season. If (big if) we beat LSU, we are pretty much guaranteed to go to the SECCG. If we get there, I think we'll still prove it.

My nightmare right now is Oregon. But, in all reality, we did just get into a "shootout" like Danielson said, and found a way to win. So, I am encouraged that IF WE GET to the NC game again... our offense will be up to the extreme challenge.

Insofar as the defense being top 10, I can only imagine Oregon to dash our hopes... was my actual point about the NC potential game.

We played prevent defense because of a scrammbler( wrong choice IMO) and stayed with it because of a big lead.

We switched Belue to Evans after their 2nd TD and shutthem down on 5 straight possessions until Belue got hurt.

A lot of their yards came from drives extended by horrible refferee call by a crew that dislikes Bama a ton.

The BS targeting gave them a 1st down on 3rd down adding 50 yards and an interception to JFFs stats. An out of bounds catch led to a TD and 60 extra yards, a shove in the back on the razzle dazzle play by WR# 19 led to a TD and kept us from intercepting the ball , easy call for the ref , blatant shove and catch adds 55 more yards. The 2nd completion on their first drive 13 Evans pushes off , call it and they don't score.

I really see nothing here but a crew of refsthat refused to call the game in the right manner and still couldn't keep Bama from winning.

And the DBs and D-L will not see 95 degree heat nor a scrambling QB like JFF again this year , so don't sweat it , we were in control of the game from the middle of the 2nd quarter and there was never realy any doubt about us winning save a dumb fumble.

Yeah. It would be a scary game to get into for sure if we ever got into a bowl game with them or something. I would just hope our lines would dominate them and we could control TOP so well that they couldn't score as often, lol.

I know what you're fishing for. You want an LSU fan to bitch and moan about your schedule.

I don't care HOW you slice that game. Our secondary got torched and laughed at. You don't allow more yardage than any other game in your school's RICH history without sucking it up that day.

Huh? Dude, go away. I'm really not trying to get into a pissing contest with someone who is missing the point of my thread and/or trying to derail it. It's going fine without your help.

It was a thread with a mission to make folks either look dumb for saying they think we won't be a top 10 defense OR it was supposed to force people into admitting that we are in FACT a top 10 defense and get some discussion going. That's what the thread was about. Holding up a mirror for those that are trying to pretend like Bama's D isn't very good.

Mostly, I felt it a good way to slice up some more mid-week football talk.

Did you miss the pass interference on Sunseri's pick 6?

I know you were talking to the other guy, but both teams had some bad momentum changing flags. For sure. And the way THAT game went, momentum means a score for the other guy if it changes against you.

And my original point is you are a noob. Are you now a windsock? Is it your purpose in life to see which way the wind blows?

You sound insecure, plain and simple.
