To be fair??? Why the frick does a 20 year old division 1 football player need a gun either stolen or bought on the black market?
You can purchase weapons from your friends in our country. That isn't the "black market." Him having the weapon could, absolutely, be an honest mistake. He could definitely have purchased what he thought was a legal weapon.
Who cares why he thinks he needs a gun? Owning a gun is a right in this country. If he knew he was in possession of a stolen firearm, then I have a problem with that. I couldn't care less about him having a gun though.

I can promise you this, it wont be put to a team vote.
If I am an Alabama fan, I am praying to the football gods that Saban takes a page out his mentor Les Miles' book and does put this to a team vote. Isn't depth on the OL kind of an issue for yall this year? and yall are breaking in a new QB AND RB? a RB who already tore his ACL once? man, I sure would hate to lose my All American starting LT. good thing they pay Saban all that money.

Need it? He doesn't need it. He shouldn't have it. He is in trouble for it.
I think my point was pretty clear.

It's the truth though. It's not illegal to purchase a gun on the secondary market...yet.

Come the frick on dude. As an LSU I have as much reason as any fan to want Bama and ATM to crumble, but crossing your fingers that 21 year olds are ruining their lives?
they were set up. as soon as they parked the car, someone hacked their social media accounts and posted a video of those guys smoking marijuana and text messages documenting the buying/selling of stolen firearms.

Honestly, and this isn't some sort of holier than thou thing, I really don't care about all that. I do, but it's secondary. If all of this is true and there isn't a really really really good explanation........they need to be removed from the team.
Given Saban's thoughts on cutting kids loose, though, I would be surprised if he does. I understand his overall thoughts on it, but I also think kids sometimes earn punishments that might not be positive for them in terms of their future. It's how the world works. Actions earn consequences.

To be fair, a gun bought from your buddy down the block could be stolen. Tons of black market, secondary market guns are technically stolen and the person with them has no clue.
They're in college, preparing to enter the "real" and "work" world.
That excuse may work for those that don't have an opportunity to pursue a higher education.
Not here.

If he purchased a gun from Jo Willie on MLK blvd thinking it wasnt stolen, he is a fool.

Even if a mistake, it's a big deal.
You can explain both charges if it was one or the other.
But both charges together is huge.
