Losing a three-year, future first round starter at left tackle is going to hurt. I don't care what team they play for.

I didn't say it wouldn't hurt, but I did say it wouldn't destroy them and Alabama has the propensity to bring up players who do an outstanding job. Bottom line, with the talent on this team, the loss of any one player isn't going to take them down.

So both starting tackles in less than 2 weeks... Hootie's gone because he's been a massive bust anyway... No way Robinson gets kicked off ... Won't happen... He might sit one game... Probably 1 half.

I can promise you this, it wont be put to a team vote.

This is one of the most overblown player discipline stories in recent memory. Les could have just reinstated Hill outright, would have been the same outcome.

It's not like Les didn't want him back but decided hey let's see where the chips fall. If you don't think Hill should have been let back on the team, fine, but that decision was obviously Les's.

The "team vote" was a formality and leaving it "up to" the players was a de facto reinstatement, obviously. If he wasn't comfortable with reinstating him he's not leaving it up to the players. Not like they'd override his decision.

Anyway that's without even noting the obvious point that (allegedly) possessing a stolen shotgun is bit more severe than punching a drunken fratstar who is hurling N bombs your way.

Even if a mistake, it's a big deal.

You can explain both charges if it was one or the other.

But both charges together is huge.

I dont think anyone really cares about the weed charge.

Yeah, lots of ways to spin that gun charge.
No, not really. This is serious shite, if true. Being in unlawful possession of a firearm is one thing, being in possession of a stolen firearm is completely different.

This is a very serious charge, but the way it's going to get spun is Cam bought the gun "legally" from a "buddy" not knowing it was stolen. Actually, I can see that happening fairly easily. Not defending any of the actions, just that that is a realistic scenario.

This is why you buy your guns from a reputable dealer with a FFL. It's worth the $15-$20 background check fee to know the deal is legit.

Damn strong work by law enforcement. There is certainly a want to keep Monroe safe from drugs and gun violence.

These kids need to learn that drugs and weapons charges will not be tolerated at a program the caliber of Ohio State! If these were Ohio State players they would receive the maximum punishment these charges would warrant. They would be suspended for the first quarter of the Bowling Green opener.

I wouldn't know because I have never owned an illegal or stolen firearm.

If you've ever bought a firearm from a private seller, unless you have a way to run it through NCIC there's a chance it could be stolen.

That's not to defend them. Riding around with illegal drugs and a firearm is way, way beyond stupid.

And in the category of 'the news just keeps getting better', this story plus the charges makes me think both were probably armed. It says the officer observed a pistol in Jones' lap and found a pistol under the seat.

If the pistol in Jones lap was the stolen one and the only weapon involved, Robinson wouldn't have a possession of a stolen weapons charge.

If Cam can't somehow show he bought the pistol without knowing it was stolen or that it wasn't his and he didn't know it was in the car (if it wasn't his car), he is completely fricked and almost certainly done as a college football player.
