Who cares about what Bama has. We have more BCS National Titles and they are the one's that count. That's like comparing NFL Championships before 1966 to Super Bowl Championship, It's pointless.

The GUMP's argue the merits of their MNC's on a "year by year" basis. Sometimes quality wins are more important...sometimes quality loses are more important. Whichever scenario works best for them...is the one that's right! Use their logic, compounded over 100 years, and we have to award 357 MNC's for those 100 years.

I like to focus on Crystal Balls. We are going after our 3rd. I don't care what those braggarts in Alabama claim or think.

Given the number of Germans here, they probably get the reference.

1925- Undefeated and won the Rose Bowl. That's undisputed NC.
1926- Tied Stanford in Rose Bowl. 9-0-1 Split Championship
1930- Another undefeated season and Rose Bowl win.
1934- Another undefeated season and Rose Bowl win.
Who would you guys give these NC's to?
1941- No argument. I don't know why we try to claim this one.
1961, 1964, and 1965. Can't argue with these. If you do then you have to give 1966 cause we won it in 65' then went undefeated in 66'. Who would you give it to? The voters didn't like our all white team and gave it to ND and Mich St even though they tied each other.
1973- I was at the ND loss 24-23. Don't deserve this one. But the AP voted prior to bowl so....
1978- Beat PSU in Sugar Bowl for NC. It was a split but I think its accurate.
1979, 1992 and 2009. No disputing.

Throw out 41' and 73' if you want to. You can't throw out the splits because neither team deserved it out right. But if you throw any out you have to give us 66'. I personally would claim 11 maybe 12.

But either way we have at least 8 more than LSU.... So what is your point?

I was counting PERFECT seasons- untied, undefeated, bowl champion years. I clearly said so in the post.

Well, except for Michigan and Notre Dame who both have had 9 unbeaten/untied seasons themselves.

Good for them, that's more than most. I was listing years where Bama did the same, but went and won their bowl game on top of it. Alabama's 9 untied, undefeated, bowl champion seasons is the most in CFB, followed by PSU with 5.

Why are LSU fans so obsessed with Alabama? It's cause most have a major inferiority complex which plays right in the hands of the gumps. Look, LSU has been one of the most dominant teams since 2000 and we can hang our hats on that. We have an incredible team with the best coach in the nation. (yes gumps, that includes saban). Let's celebrate those facts and not be obsessed with Alabama. We beat them once, we'll do it again. GEAUX TIGERS!!

All of those claims are wonderful and probably factual, but that does not refute the fact that the Josef Goebbels CrimsonTide Radio network states 13 championships several times an hour......

If your fanbase can sleep better at night claiming MNC's before indoor plumbing, before WW2, before Television, before women shaved their arm pits, before the Louisiana Purchase, before the Mayflower, before the Germans bombed pearl harbor, before Tim Tebow..... Be my guess! I would rather claim MNC's that I could watch highlights of my team's win.. Or at least radio clips of big plays from championship seasons.. But if your only memories of those magical seasons consist of old telegraphs of Bama Vs. Harvard play by play... stone tablet inscriptions of winning scores, a classic work of prose of Bama's goal-line stand pinned by William Shakespere... Or because fricking Coach Bear Bryant said so... Then you must be a Bama fan... I'll take my crystal footballs anyday... Enjoy the veiw from the couch this weekend... 9-6 bitches..

Well of course, everyone would. But that doesn't mean you should completely forget the past though. Alabama has the best of both, tons of shite in the past, only 2 years removed from the last title, and looking at a chance to play for another this year. Don't hate.

So basically the game didn't exist until you say it did? I know its sucks not to have our tradition but LSU's history is well respected also. I don't know why you would diss a better one.

They've certainly put the "mythical" in mythical national championship. Rather than asking them to alter their standards, I'd rather take comfort in the fact that, even though we know that LSU would qualify for fewer MCS's no matter what standard is used, we still have a higher standard for claiming them.

LSU played and won a game in Puerto Rico back in the early 1900's.. By using the Gump logic LSU can claim the one and only Pan-Ameican MNC. C'mon Man. No denying Bama has great history and tradition.. But claiming NC's before the invention of the abacus is bullshite.

I do wish we wouldn't claim 1941 tho. Heck, I'm good with the 8 AP/UPI titles that are recognized by most everyone that doesn't have an agenda.

This is perfectly fine. No one is trying to deny the history or prestige of Alabama. Any halfway intelligent person who pays attention recognizes the fact that Alabama has a lot of championships. 8 or 9 of them seem legitimate. Unfortunately, as you see in this thread, Alabama is full of morons who run around screaming "13!" anytime you say anything about Alabama. I know, every fan base has its idiots, but the enormous sense of entitlement shown by a majority of your fan base is sickening. Most people don't hate on Alabama for their success. Yes, there are some, and those are usually the idiots who don't know anything, but most just dislike the fact that the imbeciles in your fan base claim FIVE highly debatable championships. I just wish more of them had the same line of thinking as you, instead of just blabbing out random fricking numbers to make themselves feel good.
