LSU is a big game just about every year. If that qualifies it as a rivalry then so be it. Look forward to this game.

The truth is if Saban wasn't there LSU fans wouldn't give a shite either.

It's a huge game and both programs should be excited to have such a big game on a yearly basis, not many programs do. The rivalry argument is beat into the ground to death and whatever, but the games are epic.

No rivalry, we owned them.

"Owned" is the key word here. I wonder how old you are. If you are 40 or younger then you have no recollection of the period of time when Bama "owned" LSU.

I seriously doubt that any Bama fan that regularly posts on this board can personally remember the Bear Bryant years, because they were simply too young or not born yet.

Since 1982 Bama is 16-15-1 against LSU, is 11-11 against LSU since 1992, and 5-7 since 2002. Nobody "owns" anybody in this series since most people on this board started following football.

I don't hate Bama or A&M, actually my two favorite games of the year. I love that we have a&M back on the ticket every year. Of all my away game visits, Bama fans by far have been the best and most hospitable.
Going to Athens this year for the first time. I hear they are some of the worst in the SEC but I am looking forward to it as well.

The Bama thing was a perfect storm. One of our greatest coaches leaves on his own terms, says he isn't going anywhere while in Miami, and deflects to Bama, same conference and division as team he left. Pure vitriol would of happened if he would of went to Auburn or Ole Miss.

Now that he has incredible success at such program and also plays us on a yearly basis, the hatred skyrockets. It is what it is.

Nope. We're publicly laughing.

Very honest answer, pretty much what I assumed to be the case.

Too bad we weren't in the SEC when Fran left Bama for A&M

My honest feeling then was we didn't want anyone that did not want to be here. Turned out well for all of us.

You have to remember, they didnt start playing football til 2000, I can see how they wouldnt know.

This is true. Except we played Bama at Bama and beat them 11 of the last 15 times at Alabama, going back to 1982, more than any other team. That was the only games we played back then.

IOW LSU owns Alabama in their house but we try not to mention this, they'll have seizures.

So if Saban would have gotten the itch to leave for, say, Tennessee last offseason to take on a new challenge, would you have simply wished Saban the best and looked forward to hiring a coach who "wanted to be there"?

And yes, we both have substantially better coaches than Fran right now, unfortunately it just took us longer

Pretty fair assessment here. Too often on this boards you see people picking an arbitrary time period to make their point (as did some earlier in here) but you picked some pretty good ranges.

What else could I do? We had the revolving door of coaching changes after Stallings. Nick has his spot in Bama history no matter what he does, this is all icing now.

I'm 30 and didn't see Alabama lose in Baton Rouge until I was 17.

If we're going to play that game, at least acknowledge Alabama's success in Tiger Stadium since 1958.

Bama is THE program in the SEC. They have 2 rivals. Lots of other Johnny come lately's want to be their rival. Applications are denied That goes for LSU and A&M and UF and whoever else is hot at the moment.
