Does not quite have the history of the Bama/Tn rivalry

Alabama first played the Hillbillies in 1901. LSU's first game with Ole Miss was in 1894. The history is there. Bama just didn't become the teacher's pet in the last few years.

Of course, I realize that we can't have it EXACTLY on Halloween, but the last Saturday of October is close enough for me.

Why did it change? The schools get some wiggle room when it comes to determining their schedules. Why the big change for OM/LSU and why did they allow it?

A lot of teams have played each other for a long time. I think he meant more along the lines that for decades Alabama and Tennessee were the best the SEC had to offer and it was routinely the game of the year in the league.

Probably because douchebag ADs like Mal Moore whined about bye weeks.

Remember the big scheduling change a good many years ago?

It caused several teams to have what I would call "home-heavy" schedules every other year. That's when it changed for us.

Now we typically get Auburn close to Halloween. This past year the game fell exactly on that day and it just felt really awkward and empty.

The POS Billy Cannon run-back happened on Halloween night.

But no one other than those respective fanbases give half a shite about the game.

Just like you guys don't give a shite about the LSU/OM matchup.

I, and many that I know including other team's fans, cared as much about Bama/TN game as we did Arkansas/Auburn, KY/UGA, etc.

it's just another SEC matchup.

And Bama fans telling me otherwise won't convince me.

Obviously rivalries mean more to the teams involved nobody who it is. I was trying to say we deserve the 3rd Saturday and you don't get Halloween. I actually said in the post before I'd be fine with you having that date. Chill out bro

i guess i'm a more rational lsu fan than most...i'll be shocked if they lower it to 3 or 2. I say it'll be 4. Even though they theoretically change the entire schedule right now, because of t.v. obligations, ooc schedules etc. there is no way they will be able to bring it down lower than 4.

Plus personally i think it's kind of unfair that anyone would have to play 6 or even 5 games against an opponent coming off a bye week. Anyway and bama.

You and both of your friends are not exactly the same thing as everyone.

That happens to involve the two schools that have been more relevant historically than all the schools that you named combined.

Since 2007, these are the number of SEC games played when the opponent had an open week prior to the game:

17—Alabama

5—LSU

4—Vanderbilt

4—Florida

4—Tennessee

3—Georgia

3—Auburn

2—Kentucky

1—Ole Miss

1—Mississippi State

0—Arkansas

0—South Carolina
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And this. Now, you pussies need to STFU. /thread

Bama has played 9 games to date where the team had a bye before. Some of them wash out. I just went through the schedules from '07 to '09. Bama's schedule was as follows:

'07 - 3 byes before they played Bama. One of which is moot since Bama had a bye also before the LSU game that year.

'08 - 3 byes. Two are moot since one of them was Arky St. and the other Bama had a bye also before the Auburn game.

'09 - 3 byes. FWIW, Bama had a bye before the LSU game while LSU did not.

2010 - USCe, Ole Miss, UT, LSU, MSU, AU
2009 - UT, MSU, AU
2008 - AU, Ole Miss, MSU
2007 - Ark, AU, LSU, MSU
