Returned 9 starters from a defense that was sixth in the country in TFL last year.
29th against the run, 24th against the pass, VaTech?
Rushing defense barely better than aTm, and not as good as Ole Miss, Arkansas, or LSU.
Are we going to see sub 100yd rushing games against these teams too?
Trying to make VaTech sound like a good team to cover up for a bad offensive showing isn't convincing anyone.

I wasn't concerned after the LSU game last season so I don't know why I would start worrying now.

For real though... we just got beat up front vs Va Tech so we could get C-rob.
Worked.
Worked.

I honestly hope y'all believe that. Will make the meltdown so much more epic.

Oh, I'm well aware. I just feel the need to hold up a mirror.

#110 passing offense
#91 rushing offense

I'm not saying VaTech was a good team overall.
But most knowledgeable CFB fans will agree that an experienced defensive line is a tough match-up against an inexperienced offensive line. And vice versa, for that matter.

Doesn't matter to these people. The board has become all about hyperbole and "gotchas." If you say Virginia Tech has a strong veteran defensive line, what you actually meant was that Virginia Tech is a top 5 team of course.

Notre Dame had a top rated defense and Alabama plowed them asunder like they weren't even there. Also, pull up any running back thread and see what was posted about Yeldon. Alabama isn't in trouble, but acting like Va Tech is putting four Reggie Whites out there is silly.

He was throwing off his backfoot even on his TD pass, which leads me to believe the ingrown toenail on his plant foot is much worse than an ingrown toenail.

We'll see. I'm a little concerned with the O-line

Good points.
I would argue that VaTechs D is as good as that Notre Dame defense, if not a little bit better.
I think their D will hold quality opponents close for 2.5-3 quarters through the season. Then you'll see the other team start to pull away as the D gets tired from being on the field most of the game.

Noticed this myself, wondering if its the foot or just not trusting that OL.

For example:
quote:

People are saying that an inexperienced Bama offensive line got pushed around by a veteran, solid Virginia Teach dline.
You translate that to: "acting like Va Tech is putting four Reggie Whites out there." Makes it hard to have a rational conversation when people constantly do this.

Sixth in the country in TFL! 9 starters from that defense! What implication is one to draw? It is intended to indicate that this is a super defense. Bud Foster is good, but like I said, Bama has done far worse to far better. VT didn't have an army of Jason Pierre-Pauls it was throwing out there on Saturday. 2012 Bama killcrushes that team. That is rational. Bama is fine even though they struggled. Bama can struggle and it doesn't mean that VT's defensive line is a walking nightmare for the opposition, no?

Had surgery to remove it on Thursday before the game. Never had it done, but people who have are usually on pain killers and stay off the foot for at least a week. I'm sure it was painful for him.
