So he's overrated based on your personal distaste for LSU fans? That's a real fair way to evaluate the player. I think Rekrul hit it on the money. You don't like him. I get that. I didn't like Tebow. Doesn't change the fact that he was a great player and if he played for LSU I would love the guy. Personal distaste as a rating tool doesn't get the job done.

What are lsu fans being stupid about here in this thread? Because bama fans are the ones making themselves look football stupid calling Mathieu overrated. You know damn well that you would take a player like Mathieu on your team. Bama doesn't have a play maker and game changer on Mathieu's level. That is for damn sure.

I agree that there are stupid fans in every fanbase, but come on. Is every sportswriter that gets a Heisman vote stupid? The kid was invited to NY for a reason, as a Sophomore. How can you just ignore that fact?

I don't have anything against him. He's a good player. He's not as good as many of you guys think. Wait and watch his numbers plummet next year.
He's forced a lot of fumbles, kudos. He has a lot of tackles, which comes partly from the position he's playing and also he's a good player. He's not great in coverage. The end. I don't have to think he's spectacular. You don't have to base your own self worth on what I think of your team or players. It's ok to be happy with what YOU think.

They watched him all year, they know what he is capable of, an know he is deserving. Anyone and everyone knows the Bama fan base would not be happy unless all contenders were from Bama. If you meant Matthieu was inferior to Arenas, statistically speaking, then you are right. More int for TDs for Javy and three times the punt returns for TDs.

I don't. I DO, however, base my opinion that you know nothing of football on the fact that you say "he isn't good in coverage" and can't articulate a single basis for that opinion.
