Ok, first stat I looked up was passes defended. TM is 14th in the SEC. INT's, he's 21st in the SEC.

We are talking a player with complete stats across the board that Mathieu has. Sure there will be a player with more ints and passes defended. But they won't have the elite numbers all the way across the board that Mathieu has. Keep trying.

They are masters of correctly rating players. Deion ... overrated. Now Simeon Castille ... that's a gamer who could play. Reminds me of a slightly better Charles Woodson.

Funny as frick dude. How many threads did you read last year on the tigerrant claiming PP7 is the next Deion, Charles Woodson, Champ Bailey, etc.?

Dumbass........

Name another player with his numbers not a list of other players that when combined are better than TM7.

There is not another SINGLE player in the country that has come close to TM7s total production.

yeah what a bust TM7 has been in his rookie year. All that praise was really unwarranted.

The ONLY stat that TM is especially good in is and fumbles forced.

Like I said, he's good, but overrated.

Imagine what would happen if I started a thread saying was Derrick Thomas overrated?

Updyke Nation would begin by trying to shoot me then get so upset they would shoot themselves. Then they would accuse me of being insensitive in the wake of his untimely demise. Then tell everyone how no one will ever be like DT and his playing of rover is different than anyone who ever played the game.

I admire DT and can admit he was great. You know what else I can admit, he did things on the football field at linebacker that no one really did or does today. Kind of like Mathieu [does in the secondary].

Sorry to get the Mathieu filth all over your DT. He's a different type of player. The criticisms that on November 5 he didn't shut down every single thing on the field is ridiculous. He's come up big more often then he comes up small. He lost a guy against R-Kansas last year. Then this year, completely raped them. To be a great player isn't to be great every single time you're called on. Bama fans that hold Mathieu to that standard and no one else are obviously trolling.

he knows that but he also knows that there isn't another player that can match his numbers so he'll just avoid the question and cherry pick individual stats.

I've said he's good but overrated. I don't care if LSU fans agree, and that's about all the thought I've put into him. I think that falls far short of "extreme dislike

If Mathieu is overated then Maze shouldnt even be on the field. Dude makes 1st team AA for what? What a joke.

The only standard I hold Mathieu to is that of a defensive back. You know the position he plays.

You don't see me bringing up his blocking skills on punt returns, do ya?

9 PD and 2 INTs
similar stats to what a solid nickel in the NFL puts up...

Read this thread. Read any thread on Mathieu on the SECr. Bama fans say "didn't do shite on Nov. 5" which is demonstrably false. Then they say he's "overrated" based on some criteria which is roughly equal to, he doesn't play for Bama. On what possible basis is he not correctly rated. He is at the top of the conference in FF and probably recoveries. He is near the top in PR Average and TDs. He led the number one team in the nation in tackles. He plays any CB spot, and against teams that suck (read as Arkansas j/k Ozark Mutants) he plays safety.

So what exactly makes him overrated? FF are all of a sudden not as good as picks? I am really fascinated.

On November 5 I sat next to these obnoxious Bama fans (redundant, make that Bama fans) and they told me he was overrated unsolicited. Guess it is another of the Bama talking points like "scared" or "beat ourselves."

Well that is pretty dumb then considering how much he brings to the table on special teams and being a rover on defense.

You only look at him as a DB because if you looked at his overall, you would have to admit he is an elite player that deserves recognition.

You don't know shite about football, which you just proudly stated to the SEC rant. He is the best defensive playmaker in the game. Claiborne is a better defensive back, but no one is the playmaker on defense that TM has become.

Hey, assmunch, type www.secrant.com into your browser and see what happens.

All of you douchebags who keep flaming non-LSU fans about whether this is an LSU website are on notice. This is the SEC Rant, and you have no greater claim here than a fan from any other school.

Now if you want to label him as a utility guy, then he's an exceptional one.

I give up. Tell me, word for word, what you wanna hear, and I'll say it.
