re: Auburn's Traditional Rivals outside of Alabama are all in the East

Georgia Tech was at one time Alabama's biggest rival. Unfortunately, Bobby Dodd pussied out and GT left the conference. Point is, these things come and go. Nobody considers Tech one of Alabama's rivals now.
Just because Tennessee and Auburn used to play often doesn't mean it still is a relevant contest. Auburn has played LSU just as many times as they've played UT, soon to be more. To say nothing of the fact that Mississippi State is Auburn's second most played opponent. What of that "traditional rivalry?"

State is traditionally bad and nobody other than Ole Miss considers them a rival, no matter how often they have played?

I don't think switching Auburn and Missouri is going to solve the issue of imbalance.
I do believe it would help, but Mizzou is a solid enough program that it wouldn't balance things out all that much. Is trading the #3 team in the West with the #4 team in the East really going to balance things out?
The real root of the SEC East's weakness is the fact that both Vandy and Kentucky reside in the same division. They are without a doubt the 2 weakest programs in the SEC, both historically and currently. That fact likely won't ever change. One of those two needs to move to the West.
If you put Auburn in the West and Vandy in the East, then you have balanced divisions.

Crazy to think Auburn used to be VOLS #2 rival in the old SEC and now we only play like once every 6 years

I know I speak from a unique position as someone who is a fan of a team winning all the time, therefore I can brush off things like this, but I really do just want to see more fun games that are interesting and historical.
I like watching Auburn-Florida and Auburn-Tennessee. I'd LOVE to go back to playing Georgia more often. I don't have anything against Arkansas or Missouri or Texas A&M, those games just don't pack the same punch that a home game or a road trip to Athens or Knoxville do.
I'm content moving to the East to play Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Auburn every year knowing it's a tougher division and that LSU or whoever may have a much easier time on the other side.

I couldn't agree more, aubby brings nothing to the table for us except Gus, nothing like LSU, Bama or A&M. Your just kind of that other alabama team, I'm all for the move

Now, every fan with the exception of us Gumps need to petition your AD's & Presidents to vote for the 9 game schedule in Destin this summer. Make your leaders support the wishes of the fan base once and for all!
If they don't vote for change, then things stay status quo and this same old shite will be regurgitated again next off-season.

Yeah, I really miss our games with y'all and UF.

I say we drop the 4 newbies (USC, Arkansas, and especially aTm, but ESPECIALLY Mizzou) and play a 9-game round-robin schedule, but still technically have divisions so we can have the SECCG.

I agree completely. The game against Ark is an afterthought with most AU fans. It was fun when Petrino was there, but other than that it is just a game you look forward to get out of the way. Same with Ole Miss. MSU is a longtime opponent, but there is no rivalry or hate between the fanbases (minus Cam issues). LSU is a fun rivalry but not deep seated in history, the SEC screwed up by not forcing teams to play each other prior to 92. AU fans loved the games with TN and UF every year and would travel well to those games.

Aubie just wants to get drubbed by Bama twice a year. Gluttons for punishment.

Missouri is the team that got hosed. I like the idea of moving either Alabama or Auburn to the East. It just makes sense. The permanent opponent thing needs to go away. There are only a few teams that benefit from this arrangement. I would rather see every team get to play every other year. That just makes sense also. But Bama runs the conference much like Texas runs the the Big 12 and look what has happened with them. This conference is being ruined by Birmingham.

AU v UF rivalry is one of my favorites. It also is close enough to be a home game for me at UF. I think one of the other posters hit it on the head with old SEC v New SEC being rivalries everyone wants to see. The Mizzou, ATM, Arky don't have historical or geographic ties to make them exciting and I think it never will be because they are not feasible yearly travel games.
I would not want to lose the Iron Bowl tradition. 9 SEC games could solve issues without swapping divisions and let us play all the teams more often.

I would love to see Auburn move to the east. UK traditionally does well against the tigers. I remember a few years ago they went down there and ran the ball down their throats in the 4th quarter for a 21-14 win.

Right, but it has recent history.
Just because we didn't play a lot in the 50's doesn't mean it's not relevant.
We play a lot now.

These are exactly my thoughts as well.
