Auburn's Traditional Rivals outside of Alabama are all in the East

It's hard to remember the old days, but pre-1992 Auburn had 4 traditional rivals : Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee (and a lot of games vs MSU).
Total Games Pre-1992
(1) Georgia : 95
(2) Florida : 68
(3) Mississippi St : 65
(4) Alabama : 56
(5) Tennessee : 43
(6) Vanderbilt : 33
(7) Kentucky : 26
(7) LSU : 26
(9) Ole Miss : 16
5 of Auburns 6 most played opponents pre-1992 were now East teams + Alabama. On top of that, Auburn's closest SEC opponents are
(1) Alabama : 159 miles
(2) Georgia : 180 miles
(3) Mississippi St : 242 miles
(4) Ole Miss : 295 miles
(5) Vanderbilt : 301 miles
(6) Florida : 315 miles
(7) South Carolina : 316 miles
(8) Tennessee : 317 miles
(9) LSU : 420 miles
(10) Kentucky : 486 miles
(11) Arkansas : 665 miles
(12) Missouri : 713 miles
(13) Texas A&M : 746 miles
You could make a similar argument for Alabama. Alabama's most played games pre-1992
(1) Mississippi St : 75
(2) Tennessee : 73
(3) Vanderbilt : 67
(4) Georgia : 59
(5) Auburn : 56
(5) LSU : 56
(7) Ole Miss : 36
(8) Kentucky : 32
(9) Florida : 23
If you moved Auburn East then 4 of Alabama's 6 most played games pre-1992 would be in the East.
Anyway, I totally understand Auburn folks wanting to be in the East. I wouldn't mind it for Alabama either.

If Alabama and Auburn move to the East, that effectively makes the East the old SEC and the West the Big XII rejects and LSU

And keeps Ole Miss/MSU together as well as Ole Miss/LSU. Plus keeps Arkansas/Missouri, Arkansas/A&M and Arkansas/LSU. And keeps A&M/LSU and adds back A&M/Missouri (which wasn't really a thing anyway).
It all makes sense from that perspective, of course the flipside is the West instantly becomes a much easier division for LSU (especially if you swap Missouri/Vandy for Bama/Auburn). However, I don't really care about that. But a lot of people understandably do.

I don't blame the Auburn folks either. You get rid of a team that's gonna beat you at least 2 out of 3 times (maybe even 3 out of 4), and settle for teams that they should be able to hold their own with....and Alabama doesn't care who they play...just line'em up, and bring'em on.
Besides, if Auburn is fortunate enough to make it to Atlanta, hell, we'll take care of them then.

My hope would be to tag along with them. I doubt they'd mind that either (I'd hope not).

We want to move to the east and play Alabama you dolt. If we got what we wanted, we would have a tougher schedule

Yep. It just makes way too much sense.

For some reason, he is rustled at the thought of AU moving to the east. I want to move for selfish reasons. Being able to drive a short distance to all of our away games would be great.

You are unnecessarily hostile right now. Why?

My vagina's gotten sand in it, and now it's raw.

Mississippi State isn't in the SEC East.
Btw I never knew this till recently that Mississippi State is LSU, Alabama, and Ole Miss most played opponent and Auburns second most opponent.
No wonder they traditionally sucked

I would love AL and AU to both move to the East.
I already posted it, but it sucks playing FL so infrequently. And I think I would like watching GA/AL and FL/AL games much more than AL/A&M and AL/Arkansas.

This is, by far, the most logical move if there is one...I'll bet LSU would love it, too.

frick it move Tennessee to the west and Auburn to the east. It is lame as hell over here with Georgia and the milk has gone bad with Florida. They are not even a challenge anymore.

Not even close to true. You guys are playing sub .500 ball against Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, and AtM since the first expansion.

We beat LSU a lot in the early days. However, until the 90s, we have historically sucked against Auburn. Even 100 years ago.
