I've never said he didn't look good

Just pointed out the indisputable fact that he's unproven

Tell us about the rest of the team

The rest of the team was arguably second best in the SEC last season. We had QB issues when Sean White went down. Adding a gun slinger at QB just improves our chances.

That means a lot coming from a legend like you

Are you done derailing your own thread?

Stidham looked good enough that we were interested in him.

But not good enough where we offered him a spot.

I think everyone saw him throw in the Spring Game also. It had nothing to due with the competition, it was his throwing into small windows that was impressive

It's easier to make those throws when you know you can't get hit. Spring games are nice but it's hard to take away anything really meaningful from them.

I actually don't think it is arguable. They were the second best team per record and if SW doesn't get hurt likely would have won 9 games, probably 10. Yep, that's the same SW who really shouldn't be playing at an SEC school.

It has been said already in this thread but Auburn has a lot of pieces in place to make them an attractive pick. The QB will be the difference between 8 wins and 11+ wins. IMO he has already shown himself far superior to our other QBs, but that is more of a statement of our other QBs than his ability. The OP is correct he is unproven.

OL is Auburn's biggest concern going into 2017.

And considering we return 4 starters and over 100 combined starts.... this is like a CFB version of First World Problems

They were consistent to what we saw his freshman year. He also wasn't allowed to run out of the pocket and make throws, something that he is very good at.

There's definitely a lot of potential there. It'll be interesting to watch.

How is Stidham unproven? He played at Baylor. He doesn't have experience in this conference, but he has a good amount of game experience.

Aubie needs to improve their run D. We put 230 on them last year fairly easily

No, he played very little at Baylor and in a system that everyone agrees was designed to give whoever was at qb big numbers

Yea, he didn't play at Baylor or anything as a true freshman and impress.

Because for some reason Auburn being good at football makes a lot of people irrationally angry.

Even quantifiable facts that back up Auburn being good, people can't stand it. For example a few posts above yours I stated the facts that Auburn returns 4/5 starting OL from last season and they have over 100 starts between them. With that being the position group that people are most concerned about with us, it bodes well for the team as a whole... That's a completely fair statement backed up by quantifiable facts. But successful Auburn makes people angry, so let the downvotes pour in.

It's interesting really. People's reactions to Auburn athletics would make a great psychology case study.

I don't care if Auburn is good or toasted shite. I just want our team to play you at Auburn.

We put up more rushing yards on you.... and you realize that 39% of your rushing total from that game came off of one play? Do you have a dual threat QB this year on the level of Trevor Knight? He had 42 yards. Take away Knight who graduated and the one break away play and y'all only had 100 yards rushing. Doesn't sound "fairly easy" to me.

Besides... y'all need to worry about improving your own defense first.

- Auburn Rush Defense: #27 nationally
- Auburn Scoring Defense: #7 nationally
- Auburn Total Defense: #28 nationally

Vs

- Texas a&m Rush Defense: #80 nationally
- Texas a&m Scoring Defense: #40 nationally
- Texas a&m Total Defense: #90 nationally (ouch)

How is this different from previous years? Should be used to it by now.
