No offense, but USCe's defense is probably as fast, or nearly as fast as LSU's.. They run a 3-3-5.. Or so i've been told.

we run a 4-3- 4

I promise you we have more speed and most importantly depth than SC. BOth CB's run sub 4.4

5 yards per carry is better than average, but not great when you put it in context. His average wouldn't be that high if it wasn't for Newton drawing so much attention from the defense. All I'm saying is, if Newton gets hurt, AU is screwed.

Here is where I can tell you're not around football as much as others here. When your focal star of your football team goes down you don't try to replicate his production through another player, you change the game plan.

If Newton goes down, we go back to the "gimmicky" quick shoot passing offense that we had last year, with relief coming from Dyer/McCalebb.

Malzahn ran a really good offense with Chris Todd, he can do it again with Barrett Trotter, who can actually run too.

I'll take skill over Neiko and Washington's speed anyday. Yes, I know LSU has both, but it irritates the shite out of me why people try to argue speed as the defining factor in DB play.

I know.

3-3-5 defenses will usually have more speed than 4-3 defenses..

More Dbs on the field.

True, but like you said we have the skill too.

WHat is up with Washington? I remember my Ole Miss friend telling me about him when he committed to Ole Miss before switching?

He is getting beat often

I can't laugh at an idiotic response? Sorry.

If Auburn's offense sucks, then so does 90% of college football offenses because we are at the top, bruh.

I don't think Auburn's offense sucks but Miss St, Clemson, and Arky State aren't the best defenses you'll play. They did ok against USCe but the turnovers were huge for you. Forcing 4 turnovers is what won the game. USCe had turnovers on their last 4 drives. Auburn scored on two of them.

Nobody knows how Cam will do when he's forced to win a game with his arm. It'll be interesting to see how good the offense will be. When Cam has been held to 4 YPC or less by Miss St and Clemson, the offense has not been very good and the games were decided by 3 points. 3 point wins over Clemson and Miss St dont show that the offense is the best.

I'm not on the Auburn is overrated bandwagon. I just don't know how good Cam will be when the training wheels come off. It's a big unknown right now.

Yeah but then you have a week to get your offense ready to play with a new quarterback, and to run different plays than they've been running all year. I know they've practiced with Trotter, and they've run all the plays in practice and in some games, but it's not like switching a light on and off. If the offense wasn't actually dependent on Cam running the ball so much, why put him at risk? If he can run the same offense from a year ago that was so effective, why not do it?

It all comes down to W & L's. Let the Au fans crow about their 1st half of the season sucess like they've done for the last 3 years in a row. In the end Au will be a non factor with L's to Ark, LSU and Bama with 1 more thrown in. Once they get to the meat of the season they will start having the same problems they always do with the lack of Depth on D, which has sucked already.

The thing I like about the Auburn vs LSU matchup at this point of the season is that LSU's offense depends on the run and that's the one thing Auburn can stop.

I have no doubt that our Secondary can make JJ look like Tom Brady if we wanted, but the matchup looks nice on paper.

Here is AU's defensive competition to date:

Ark. State - No Need to Mention
Miss. St. - 48th Rushing; 42nd passing; 34th overall
Clemson - 96th Rushing; 64th passing; 76th overall
USCe - 49th Rushing; 86th passing; 82nd overall

Also take into consideration the field position MSU gave up against LSU, so these could be considered "light"

Again, until Cam plays against some of the elite defenses in the league, or in general, leave the "Love Fest" at the house.

3-3-5 is not a good defense. Its easy to get big plays on it.

The offense is better with Cam running the ball. That's been pretty well displayed so far I believe.

I'm not saying that with Trotter the offense would be better because it wont. I'm saying that it's not the collapse you're alluding it to be.

Aren't we ranked near the top in the NCAA in terms of rush D ?

We have done very well over the past 7 games or so.

In my opinion, yes. You never answered my question. Do you think LSU is going to win? Check yes or no.

[ ] YES
This means you, memphisplaya, thinks LSU will score more points vs. Auburn in football on October 23rd, 2010

Until LSU breaks out the forward pass this year, it's kinda hard to put much faith in them.
