But none of those D were exactly "terrifying". They had good individual players, but not a good unit overall.

You play assignment football against Auburn, you can shut them down.

Problem is, no one has. The rush upfield instead of staying at home, allowing Newton to scramble. No one has even attempted to spy him either, it's like they've never played the Read Option before...

We are not where we need to be offensively but we are getting there. Newton has helped the offense but he is not the only offensive player on the field. Leach is wrong in this case.

I didnt hear the comment but I assume it was tongue in cheek. The main thing to know is that as it appears cam is the Auburn offense as of now but he is your best athlete so he should be used like this and if I was malzahn I dont change his game and try to turn him into a pocket passer. To me all that does is screw with his game he has to be comforatable out there. Tebow was not your prototypical pocket passer and he did well in the draft.

well, not anymore they dont. usc was averaging like 40 yds rushing a game. we put up 300+. of course they are not going to be #1 anymore

Or maybe the teams they played patted their stats?

Georgia certainly did...

Holy frick!!! You are brilliant. Much smarter than the DC of Clemson, SC, MSU. Please do not tell anyone else. You have it all figured out and I am just glad you are not a DC of any team we play. Otherwise Cam would be fricked!

BTW, I wonder where our HS offense is ranked in the SEC. Second or third?

Exactly what I was thinking..... I wonder if Ellis Johnson realizes how bad he sucks?

On tv, they look like broken plays but our offense does work better with a running QB. Many of these runs are designed running plays. Tulsa had running QBs the two years Gus was there and they ran for over 1000 yards each time. AU had Chris Todd last year.

South Carolina used their LBs strategically to try and keep contain on Newton, he just abused them physically.

You've seen the games, no one has even attempted to do anything like that.

It doesn't take a fricking DC to know what you do to stop a scrambling QB.

Look what NC State did to GTech, they played assignment football and shut down Nesbitt...

Scoreboard.

Kept Nesbitt under 100 yards rushing and just 1 TD, which was a passing TD.

Auburn offense sucks. It's a one man show. It'll be stopped soon enough.

Leach is right and knows more about football than any of the homer/sheep Au fans on this site. Leach knows Au will fold when they play the better teams on their schedule and that is why he didn't have them a top 10 team. ARK, LSU, Bama all will beat Au, plus 1-2 of UK, OM or UGA.

Au has done what was expected of them during the first part of their weak arse schedule. Good Job Au

LSU has Kelvin Sheppard at MLB... I don't see many players abusing him

that's if he gets passed our 4.44 Speedy DE's

No, there's no chance of that happening, Cam is the bestest player EVAR!

no it doesnt, not any more than Fla did last yr

I still think you have ot contain with your DE and get pressure up the middle. i dont think Newton can run over DH but if he hasnt gotten the extra weight off before then he will not be able to catch Newton. Nico may be our best shot at pressure up the middle against Newton as of right now.

I don't understand why people expect a first year starter to come in the best defensive league in the country and throw for a billion yards and a million touchdowns.

Cam is a first year starter. He's not going to torch any defenses with his arm. We are fortunate that what he lacks in throwing ability he makes up for with athleticism.

Either way, I don't see why anyone is in an uproar over Leach's comments. He didn't say our offense is horrible or our team isn't capable of winning games, he's just saying he doesn't see any sort of well defined scheme. He's an offense guru, what the hell did you expect him to say?

Newton runs a 4.5, and I'm sure if he needs to, he'd run right through their asses.
