Did the Clemson performance adjust some of your expectations for Auburn this year?

Your analysis above seems pretty spot on to me, espefially compared to the preseason.....stuff.

I still think Auburn is a 9 win team.

8-4 is worst case IMO. 9-3 Is probably most likely.

I will personally say 10-2.
It may seem homerish after this weekend, but I still see 10-1 going into the Iron Bowl and losing a close, hard hitting defensive battle. The type of game where you can hear the hits in the stands all night and it hurts to watch. The type of game that AU-LSU played in the mid 00's and UA-LSU played in the early 10's

I don't think 10-2 is out of the question. The only teams that I think Auburn can lose to are LSU, UGA, Bama and State. I need to see more of State before I actually consider that a possible loss. UGA and LSU will be difficult unless Stidham and the playcalls expand and improve. Alabama will clearly be a challenge.

However, I figure they'll get better and the defense is fantastic.

Agree, it'll be a war

I don't see State as a threat. It'll be similar to last season IMO. Fitzgerald still has no help, and is honestly a bit overrated IMO (racks up stats against shite defenses, average passer, and does poorly against good defense.) And their defense just doesn't have the athletes to match up.

Bowl, I don't troll but I don't think of you when looking for rational discussion. Maybe I needed to separate the off-season Bowl from the in-season Bowl.

Clemson is good, with a great defense, but...Jarrett Stidham? What happened Saturday nite? That wasn't the same QB a remember from Baylor.

>50% of passing plays Stidham was sacked, flushed out of pocket or scrambled from perssure

Our WRs + playcalling didn't do him/ our overmatched OL any favors either

You know those memes that say "Get you somebody that can do both" and then they'll have picture of Barack Obama with a backwards ballcap balling on a basketball court, then on drinking champagne in a tuxedo at some ball.. Or pics of Mila Kunis stuffing her face with food and wearing sweats on one side, then on the other side looking sexy af?

Well I'm like that with trolling and analytical discussion.

But like I said, most posters don't or can't read more words than would fit in a tweet and only want to troll anyway, so that's the only side of me that they process.

Now that I'm "Rant Famous" that rep precedes me. So if I post anything that shows confidence in Auburn, or critical/ negative about another team then people just shout troll. No matter how well thought out my point is and how much info/stats/facts that I have backing up my point. Although sometimes I think that's why people just shout troll in a lot of those cases because they have no real comeback or dispute to my point and so that's their defense mechanism.

Plus there's nothing the Rant loves more than to hate Auburn, which as I'm sure you know makes it nearly impossible to post anything positive about Auburn without being attacked by opposing fans.

Somebody might score more than 6 points against Clemson's defense, but I seriously doubt an offense quarterbacked by Danny Eitling could do it

We don't know about that, but we do know for sure that an offense coached by Matt Canada can score 43.

One of the worst trolls on the board complaining about being trolled. Typical.

Eh, your off-season analysis of Auburns offense was rightly laughed at, along with the overall prediction for the Clemson game. Let's not get too full of it here.

Troll or not, it was silly.

I think your fan base is overreacting too much. That is another characteristic that both our supporters have. We push the picnic button too soon. Recent history shows this series has been damn close. We have been playing each other early and both teams have some rust to be worker off. To believe that your offense (or Clemson's) won't be able to move the ball based on this one game is foolish. Both teams played what could well be the one of the best, if not the best defense you will face all year. Sometimes a team just runs into such a tough offense or defense that you get beat. Because this game was so close, it is almost a mulligan for Auburn. If you guys take care of business for the rest of the year and learn from this lost you will be fine. As Kevin Bacon from Animal House said:

I loved going to Clemson, but then I was mostly press and got VIP treatment, particularly the food spread. But I kept my mouth shut and only wore a Carolina shirt when I was playing y'all. I knew Coach Howard after he retired. And broke bread with Danny many times. And I flat hated-- and still do--UNC, Wake, Virginia and Duke. Almost felt like a Tater at those games.
