I can not argue that, but I think you can clearly see the issues on the field. I was looking at the stats on espn where pass attempts made up on 33%. That does not count 9 carries by QB which I am sure some were suppose to be passes. Do not take this is trash talk. I like AU and wanted them to win.

Two things to keep in mind when talking designed pass vs run split

1- Those 9 carries (if all scrambles/sacks) should be counted, just as passes not runs

2- Auburn runs RPOs for Stidham's "run" plays, he hasn't had a true designed run only QB keeper / read option play

3- I subtracted off the last drive when backup QB + 2nd team O was in (9 runs + 2 passes)

I'm not, just saying that the argument is built on a false premise that AU isn't passing enough

Auburn's pass offense + play calling (run v pass) is way different when you actually watch it and pay attention. Our garbage OL is just not lettingthe ESPN stat sheet see it

Bama probably is as good if not better than Clemson's D

A combined 3 sacks and the most tackles that any of them had was 4. They had a safety with 11 tackles and a corner with 10 lol

You scored 14 pts, had 284 yards of total offense and averaged 4.2 YPP.

Right now I don't think we are. We have to blitz to create pressure, especially with Lewis/Miller out, and until Evans gets back our LB play is still very good but not quite elite.

I'm sure by November we'll have it more together, but as of now we're very good but I think Clemson is probably better. Those 4 DL can cover up a LOT of issues.

I can concede some of this, but I am not sure it is all on the Oline, specifically on non blitz plays like this one (look at the 7:25 mark)

Tigers Vs Taters

Clearly this is on the QB. He has time and a outlet receiver who happened to be AUs best player. That would have most likely been a TD.

After re-watching the first half, it amazes me that Clemson won this game.

First, we only had two plays w >6 tackles, a CB with 11 tackles and LB with 9. When CLemson throws a ton of bubble screens, the corner is going to get a lot of tackles. It's how defense works

Pretty impressive considering Clemson only had 5 passing plays go for >10 yards. Not many opportunities when your QB isn't throwing deep

I thought the same thing, that it was the QB's fault until I rewatched it. Pettway runs a lazy route and doesn't turn around, clearly not expecting the ball thrown his way. Keep in mind, Pettway has 0 receptions in his career on 0 targets

Stidham has shown he isn't a gunslinger, he won't throw into tight coverage. Problem is our WRs aren't getting open and the OL can't block long enough for them to get open

Gus is like Less Miles in that he hires offensive coordinators, but behind the scenes he controls them. Just like Less Miles, he's a control freak, and just like Less Miles, the game has passed him by.

You do realize we were not very good against Georgia Southern. Saw the exact same issues we saw again Clemson. Only Clemson has the athletes to exploit those issues. And our coaches are too stupid to fix those issues.

Tight Ends can't touch the ball past the line of scrimage dumbass.

What, I'm wrong? Well, if I'm wrong, why have I never seen it?

That looks like Gus would the minute he understood the value of the Tight End position.

I remember beating a probably better than us Florida team simply by releasing the TE straight ahead 10 yards. He would trot 10 yards, catch the ball and have a first down. He did it so many times we were surprised they didn't try to prevent it. I was hoping Gus would try the same. He didn't.

Did I really see a couple Clemson fans saying AU's Dline didn't do much? What game did you guys watch? AU's front 7 looked great and put Mitch Hyatt on his butt multiple times and knocked Bryant out of the game for a series....you realize if Bryant isn't cleared to come back that game ends 6-0 AU.

Yeah but you forget Gus Malzahn is our coach. We've been trying the same things on offense for 3 years now

Idk. This is probably the weakest Bama D in 10 years.

Not even close.

2010, 2013 and 2014 were all worse, and specifically were bad in the secondary and heavy at LB with no DL pass rush.

This one is very good in the secondary, good and fast at LB (when Evans comes back) but young and not as good in the front 4.

However, I think Clemson's is better due to their Front 4. Having elite dudes there covers up any slight weakness elsewhere.
