He was denied by Auburn when he tried to commit because we already have our class of 2016 QB

What's ironic is that petrino has the worst NFL QB record that I can remember. Great college QB coach. Tyler Wilson couldn't even make an NFL roster.

Looks like this one slipped the hook. Oh well he caught a few. May not catch his limit......we'll see.

I'll give him a C+ for effort.

Maybe so.

Gus Malzahn 0

That's ironic. Many like you on this board spent all of 2011 and then all of 2012 telling us CGC success was only due to CGM.

That has vocalized it. I guarantee you he didn't arrive at that perception on his own. And if he did, you can bet others have, too.

You are being obtuse. Do you really think Auburn is suffering in recruiting because they can't develop pro players?

Auburn fans will never admit it but playing for Gus hurts your chances of going to the league. Gus is lucky Urban developed Cam for him.

Link?

I think many on this board spent all of forever telling you Gene Chizik's success was only due to Cam Newton.

If you think for once second that Gus Malzahn did anything more than call plays for Cam Newton, I don't know what to tell you.

It could definitely become a trend if that perception keeps up. Recruits talk, and college coaches know how to negative recruit. Auburn currently only has 2 commitments from offensive players ranked 4* or better. Currently ranked 20th overall in recruiting rankings... 4 spots lower than Kentucky.

Outside of Cam Newton, Auburn has been skunked on the QB front. Running back might be the only position Auburn is able to point towards any success of preparing for the league under Malzahn.

That should be disturbing for a team as successful as Auburn.

Why does everything have to be a troll? Why are we incapable of having a decent conversation about football?

If I had a different logo by my name would you be willing to talk about it?

If there was something to talk about, then yeah. If JJ flames out and fails Frazier style then I will entertain the idea that the staff isn't developing QB talent.

HHell, The past 8 years our defense has been literally one of the worst in the SEC and we landed arguably the best DE in the country.

Like I said, your thread is boring. Nobody was projecting Pass to Auburn since last Fall. Our QB depth is the best it's ever been and we are in great shape on two of the best prospects next year.

The above is a single example in less than 3 minutes of looking. Everyone on this board other than Auburn fans believed CGM was the reason for our success. Cam like all players by any coach was a tool he used. You clearly didn't pay attention to 2010 if you think Gus wasn't a huge reason Cam was successful. Shula could take a few notes in Carolina.

How many offensive players from Auburn are currently starting in the NFL that played under Chizik or Malzahn?

I can only think of a couple other than Cam Newton. The majority of Auburn players in the league came from the defensive side of the ball.

Cam
Tre Mason
Greg Robinson

Anyone else?

You don't think recruits are going to start noticing that?

Who was the last SEC coach to have a Heisman winning QB and #1 draft choice?

Right. If it weren't for Cam Newton - who would have likely been the #1 overall draft choice wherever he ended up - there would literally be nothing for Auburn to hang their hat on.

League production from former Auburn players under Chizik/Malzahn have been basically nil. Recruits are starting to notice, and that should concern Auburn fans.

Not a very good example, as I believe everyone in that thread that mentioned Gus mentioned Cam as well.

You said we spent all of 2011 and 2012 telling y'all that CGC's success was only due to Malzahn. I don't remember that being the case.

This thread doesn't really have anything to do with Pass... It was to point out that there is a perception among recruits that Auburn doesn't develop players for the NFL - particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
