The whole entire country is well aware of Cam Newton, Gus Malzahn, and the Auburn offense. It is an incredible thing to watch (even for a Duck fan). However, I am curious about the Auburn defense. I know it has been criticized a little earlier in the year (especially the secondary). However, it seems to me as if the defensive coordinator makes superb second half adjustments. The Auburn defense was incredible in the second half against LSU and Alabama. Can any Auburn (or any fans for that matter) vouch for how good they are? What are their strengths and weaknesses? It seems to me that they don't get the credit they deserve.

there D line will frick oregon up pretty bad, they've been hard to stop all year. Secondary is weak if you have time to throw, second half adjustments and just plain good.

Linebackers seem pretty solid. I think Bynes is pretty legit.

Secondary starters have been hurt all year....played a lot of freshmen and redshirts which is why our pass defense didn't set any records.

That being said, we are apparently all healthy going into Monday. So we will see if we can hang with your aerial attack.

D-Line - good at stopping the run and pressuring the QB; also it is Fairley (haha) deep

LBs are good, but inconsistent except for Bynes (our MLB) who is good and consistent

Secondary is good in support of stopping the run, poor in pass coverage and not biting on play action, etc. Pass coverage is wholly dependent on d-line getting pressure.

Second half adjustments by the coaching staff have been unbelievable.

Personally I think the defense has gotten a very bad rap this year (secondary should get a bad rap). They don't play a complete game, but they do tend to make the stops when they are needed.

My suggestion. Run up the middle a lot.

They're not great, but they're much better than anything Oregon has seen.

Auburn doesn't handle quick RBs very well so it will be interesting to see how Auburn stacks up against L. James.

Honestly though, I'm not sure if it's that Roof makes good halftime adjustments or if our D-Line just wears out the opposing line by the 4th quarter.

they might not be as good as LSU's or Bama's defense. but they do knock QBs out of the game

My question exactly. D-Line seems to dominate teams in the second half. See the game v. Bama for example. The D-Line completely disrupted everything Bama tried to do offensively inthe second half.

They arent very good but the Ducks still wont be able to handle them. You can exploit them with the pass though. They cant cover for shite.

DL - above average
LBs - Average to below average
Secondary - fricking terrible

We're pretty bend but don't break, and play much better in the second half usually. Cheers.

This will save Roof's job, IMO. Now that he has some depth/fresh legs to work with he's shown to be great at making the right adjustments in the second half.

Just don't have the QB hold onto the ball too long.

^^That always helps - AU has depth this year and they aren't the one's wearing out in the 4th qtr.

Lowest rated pass defense in a bcs title game ever, no? Oregon should be able to slice their secondary up, IF you can hold the line for a few seconds. Y'all really need to hit your 80 play or whatever mark bad. Need to see if you can wear their line out. Length of field drives, etc. If not, their line is gonna feast on roast duck.
