My concerns are:
1. Getting out of position with Oregon's pace.
2. Oregon not running too many plays in the first half and getting our D worn down in the second like Oregon has done most teams.
3. LMJ is a small burner that is hard to get a good shot on. Our D has been stellar against the run all year, but against a lot of big backs that tried to play power football which doesn't work against our D. Oregon is angles, tempo, speed. Not power.

I agree with this especially about elusive speed backs and it very well could be an Arky type game who can bring it in the 4th the best and the freshest.

Guess if I had to pick a score it would be AU in the 38-42 range and Oregon in the 30-33 range.

Just don't know though. I think I will be too nervous to think rationally in a few days and will be bi-polar between being worried as hell and thinking AU will kick the shite out of them.

True though that our scout team has been trying to simulate the 10-12 second pace in practice.

Sounds like fun practice...

From what I read, in the practices leading up to going out yesterday, the defense is going up against a very uptempo scout team offense, and when they rotate guys out, they're jumping rope on the side until they come back in a few plays later.

As Fairley said earlier today - "we're in tip-top shape."

Yeah, that's where I see the problem for y'all. Your secondary is too young / not talented enough to handle their attack. Game will be too fast for them. Which will lead to your line getting tired as they go. Or not. They could be in the backfield before the qb even makes his 1st read.

My head (and SEC history) says:
Auburn-45
Oregon-31

My heart says:
Oregon-34
Auburn-31

We have to keep Fairley fresh. When he is fresh, he pretty much cannot be stopped and has a tendency to occasionally hurt people. When he gets winded, he does tend to take a play or two off.

Of our defensive coaches, I'm happy with all of them sans Tommy Thigpen, the coach of our secondary. It seemed that our CBs never turned their heads to the ball when it was in the air

Really?

Thigpen coaches safeties.
Lolley coaches corners.

They can't simulate game speed/size son of a preacher man. Y'all can't simulate game speed quack attack. Hard to guess. Easier to lean towards y'all though, making it through bama, lsu, and arky already.

What are their strengths and weaknesses?

Our defensive strength is Cam Newton and the O boys. Ted Roof's job is to not give up as many points as Cam can score. Pretty simple gameplan.

I could coach that if I had a Cam Newton

The quick snap offense is very effective when your opponent only has a week to prepare for it. Auburn has had a month.

Then no excuses...right?

If we lose by three is the excuse that Oregon is a damn good team not sufficient?

The way this year has gone, it would take a duck pulling out a toothbrush and shanking cam to be an excuse. Oh, and failey being ganged up on and crippled.
