I wonder if it's because they think it would be a much easier division than the west.

Upvoted ... Auburn belongs in the East. There is no excuse for them not being in the East other than a BHam conspiracy perpetrated by Bama and most probably UT.

You made the statement that the Iron Bowl was Bama's longest standing rivalry and I simply pointed out that there is an approximate 20 year gap in the number of games played vs. AU.

The fact that UA-AU squared off in a field on the southside in 1893 doesn't mean that Auburn is viewed as the longest standing.

The only reason I care about moving to the East is Because the schools are closer And most of our students/ alum are from Eastern schools

In terms of competition, SECW is more fun/exciting than the dumpster fire East. I just don't care about playing them

Lost in the "hurr durr frick Auburn" talk is the fact that Jacobs has said he wants to keep the iron bowl. So, not really running from Alabama. If we could keep the IB and get back our old traditional rivalries that would be great. And on top of that is the geographic reasoning, etc.

Of course they do....bottom line: this is all about Saban and getting away from Bama and the issues that Saban has created for them. They have the misguided view that being in the East is going to somehow improve their program and competiveness.

How's that going to work hombre? Bama gonna have 2 permanent cross division opponents?

The funny thing is what would probably happen is a year after they make the switch Saban would retire and a year or two later Florida/UT would make great hires and then all the sudden the East is the tougher division again

It's a passive aggressive argument. Jacobs is being disingenuous knowing it forces Bama into no good choice.

Everyone is missing a main point here. If missou went to the west they may win 1 or 2 conference games a year every year. Their attendance will fall even worse and the program will fall apart to the point of a self imposed death penalty. The East would be fun to watch though with renewed rivalry of UF Aub.

Yeah, great for Auburn, they get their "traditional rivals" back, but Bama and UT have to end their series, and we then have to find new cross division rivals for Arkansas, Missouri, Tennesee, and Georgia. If you just match up those four somehow, you've got two really blah cross division rivals. Then you've got the problem of Bama and Auburn meeting the week before Atlanta--yes, Arkansas and Missouri could potentially face a rematch under the current schedule setup, but the odds of that happening are a whole lot less than a Bama-Auburn rematch.

I just don't see anything good coming from Auburn going to the East. I'd rather see the SEC get rid of divisions than see Auburn and Missouri swap places.

"It makes more sense for Auburn from the demographics of our students," Jacobs said of flipping Auburn to the East. "Six to eight years ago, I looked at our demographics and most all of our students come from Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and Kentucky.

"And that's the main reason we want to move to the East. It has nothing to do with running scared from Bama."

We want to play Florida and Tennessee again. That is what is driving this. Mainly Florida.

You Aubies keep coming up with different reasoning for moving. But the entire league knows the real reason. And it's pretty pathetic.
