Agree. But 2011 Alabama is definitely one of the greatest defenses of all time and had a pretty good offense as well, anchored with a great RB.

2004 Auburn was better than 2010 Auburn so...2004 Auburn would win.

I agree 2004 AU was more complete of a team than 2010 AU, but 2010 AU is a more difficult match-up for 2012 Bama.

Im not so sure.

Carlos Rogers would probably be on Amari Cooper and lock him down. Bama's tackles and our DE's would be pretty even. AU would be able to run on Bama thought for sure, but may struggle passing.

I just think Bama's defense in 2012 would be more succesful stopping the 2004 offense than the 2010.

Defensively though AU's 2004 Defense would be better against Bama, so maybe I'm wrong. All else washing out though, I think I like #2 controlling what happens for AU.

@thread: This is a tough call. Do we assume both team are healthy and play their best football for 60 minutes? If so, then I'd say 2012 Alabama. Based on last season's results against LSU, Texas A&M, and Georgia, I'd say Alabama would have lost to 2010 Auburn if LSU and Texas A&M were any indicator. Cam Newton would pass for approximately 300 yards, and Auburn would rush for more than 100. 2012 Alabama > 2010 regular season Alabama. The key words are "regular season". Both teams underperformed in big games and were unhealthy.

LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO! The SEC sucked in 2009. Besides undefeated Alabama and Florida, everyone had 3 or more losses in the conference alone.

The SEC peaked in 2010 and has since given rise to the likes of Vandy and Ole Miss

No. The SEC West may have peaked in 2010, but the league as a whole has only gotten stronger. The SEC East was way down in 2010, and South Carolina was a good, not great team, and 56-17 was embarrassing.

2010 Auburn played a tougher schedule with a NCAA scandal overshadowing their every step.

True. Alabama played no one from the East until the SEC Championship that they nearly lost.

They're the last team to play a "real" SEC schedule and go undefeated.

Congratulations on those come from behind wins. In 2011, you would have come in 3rd in the West.

Just like in 2004, we brought attention to how brutal the SEC was and how difficult it was to go undefeated . . . Basically we put the SEC on our back - but y'all ain't heavy

Because it was better in 2010. Much better to be exact.

In the 2010 West 4 teams won 10+ games and 5 finished ranked in the top 15. Only one team, Ole Miss, was terrible (not nearly as terrible as 2012 Arkansas and Auburn).

and Mississippi State. The West has never been as deep as it was in 2010. You listed 5 teams, all from the West. The East was bad. South Carolina was okay; they beat Alabama and lost close ones to Kentucky and Auburn. 2010 South Carolina was blown out by Arkansas and received the most embarrassing loss in SEC Championship history which goes to show the gap between the divisions that year. The West was still much stronger in 2011 though the depth was weaker. In 2012, the East finally caught up, and the league had 6 or 7 legit teams.

Why aren't the other teams "legit"....If you wanna go that route...we could bring up how 2010 Auburn wasn't "legit".
