One of these is not like the other

F-ville is severely overrated because a lot of SEC folks haven't been there. It is an awesome town.

Get back at me when the Auburn McDonalds features the bust of Our Great Leader.

More bars and chain restaurants does equate to a social Mecca.

Auburn is nice, but "exciting" is not a word generally associated with it. Usually it is words like "safe, quiet, friendly, bad football team etc..."

Auburn blows... even though the town is growing, it still sucks arse compared to most of the other SEC towns (that continue to grow as well). I can't even believe Auburn fans are homer enough to defend that town. I love the school, campus, fans and stadium atmosphere, but I'd rather slit my ballsack than live or ever spend time in that town outside of gameday ever again.

And why the hell are people acting like it's Peachtree City? There are still plenty of eye sores in that town - like that area the Village/Auburn Mall is in (the same joke of a mall that has closed up over half of its spaces). There was an old saying around there that for every new business that pops up, three other businesses shut down. Don't forget it's also connected to Opelika - one of the biggest shitholes in Alabama.

Not defending it, but Auburn has made a few national list as being one of the best places to live. I do not rate a place by their mall or how many bars are located within walking distance. When you get pass the age of 21, you look for other qualities.

They must have gone to a different Auburn.

More bars, more breweries, great dining, more Greeks, more music venues, better sports teams >>> more opportunities to party and support your university.

What more could undergrads want from in their social life?

Tuscaloosa has much more entertainment options than Auburn.

The only edge that Auburn has over Tuscaloosa is that the students throw more parties in their double wide trailers than the students at Bama do.

I always enjoyed visiting AU in college. The whole town (back then any way) was basically college students, people who worked at AU, or people who catered to the college students like restaurants, etc. Always had fun. Not sure I'd call it "exciting".

How exciting was going 3-4 at home last year with wins over JSU, SJSU, and Idaho? Fun town? Absolutely. Exciting? Meh.

Yea, Tuscaloosa is nothing but chain restaurants. At least get better at trolling.

- Epiphany
- Dreamland (the original, all else suck)
- Nick's in the Sticks
- City Cafe
- Archibald's
- Five
- Chuck's Fish
- Kozy's
- Cypress Inn
- Waysider
- Hooligans

Etc, etc. It isn't Midtown or Buckhead, but it has a lot of excellent local joints.

Never, or he is just being obtuse. Tuscaloosa has had 10-15 great little local joints for 50 years.

I have been to most, some good food but I would classify any as fine dining. BBQ, meat and three and bar food is great as a college student, but the it doesn't compare even to anything that even Birmingham has to offer.

I don't do chain dining. I like DePalma's and we enjoyed Ephiphany and Chuck's for some downtown eating. I love the Waysider for breakfast after a night out. Melina's has great Creole the crabcakes and grilled trout with crawfish sauce were really good. Kozy's is an old staple, Cypress Inn has a great riverfront dinning scene with cocktails on the deck.

The brewery is a lot of fun and some really good music venues at the amphitheatre. Several new bars have opened up down by the riverfront that pull in some good music as well. Tuscaloosa has a great downtown scene if you want to chill out and have some fun after the raucous crowds and celebrations in the wake of another national championship season ends.
