This, and it's not really fair to Trotter and Moseley to have them go through spring ball thinking they're competing for the job, then bring in another one-and-done guy to give it to after the fact.

Well if one of them beat out Wilson for the job, then it doesn't matter. If Wilson were to come in late and win the job, they have no one to blame but themselves.

You ALWAYS bring in good players if you have the chance.

And if they are better than the ones that you already have? Great!

There is no "fair" to be considered in the calculation.

Which do you think the team members would prefer hypothetically? Winning 9-10 games with Wilson? Or 7-9 games with Trotter?

Which do you think they would consider more "fair"?

+1. this is football. it doesnt matter if its "fair". youre doing whatever you can to win football games, and if you think bringing in wilson betters the team, you do it. especially when we are so far under on scholarships.

That's the reasoning they used when they released him, but I think he wants to still play football

The addition doesn't make Auburn significantly better, they aren't gonna win another NC with him.

It would be better to allow Trotter/Mosley/Frazier to start so they have live experience in 2012...

He's in the minors right now.

By the time August practice opens up for college ball, the low minors are just about closing up shop.

He may like to play that one last year of eligibility and see if he can raise his stock enough in Malzahn's offense to get a shot at the NFL.

so the NCAA won't throw up any red flags because he told NC State he wanted to pursue a Major League Career only to go to Auburn? there is no way he could just come there?

The NC State coach has made it clear he really doesn't want him back.

In a case like that, I don't see why the NCAA would have a problem with a transfer.

He got released because he wasn't gonna be the starter b/c of baseball

in that case O'Brien is a fricking ratard. Russel Wilson is the best QB the ACC has to offer IMHO, better than EJ and so on. AU would be damn lucky and I will only hate yall more. Would he be ready by 2011?

Is Chiz coaching Auburn or has Calipari taken over?

Tom O'Brien is a former Marine, he's not gonna let one player have him by the balls.

I respect him and agree with it, if Wilson doesn't want to focus on football and be a teammate, cut him...

i agree with having him by the cajones and I guess i don't know what all is happening in Raleigh but I figure if Tom still wants a job he does what he can to keep his best player there. You know, give him the Spurrier treatment. NC State was actually ranked and it was because of Wilson. They weren't much of a contender anyway but i figure this loss pretty much screws them for even thinking it, maybe not even making a bowl now.

I don't like it. Eventually we are going to have to develop our young qb's. We can't keep relying on a big transfer each year. Not to mention, I could see this potentially being a big team chemistry problem.

With Kiehl and Zeke coming to Auburn, we won't have to worry about this anymore. But until they get here, I'd love to have Wilson, because our QBs currently aren't that good IMO
