Bo Pelini was a complete unknown before we hired him on as DC in '05 and he did alright.. top 5 nationally in all three years if I remember correctly.
As for a "downgrade," when Pelini left, we tried to get by with Bradley Dale Peveto and Doug Mallory... which was a disaster by all accounts. I've posted the defensive statistics of that season, along with Chavis's last two seasons. See if you can identify them.
4119 yards
845 plays
4.9 yards per play
26 Touchdowns
13 Field Goals
20 Turnovers
90 Punts
4429 yards
872 plays
5.1 yards per play
30 Touchdowns
21 Field Goals
19 Turnovers
61 Punts
4232 yards
846 plays
5.0 yards per play
32 Touchdowns
14 Field Goals
19 Turnovers
75 Punts

It Chavis is a 1
Steele is a 100
The disparity between what you had and what you now have, all over not wanting to add a couple year guaranty to a contract (because you DID offer to match the 1.7) just shows what direction Alleva believes Miles is taking this team. Alleva will clean house shortly and good luck on the coaching carousel. I don't think Saban is coming back to raise y'all from the rubble like last time.

Aggy can't comprehend blatant factual information. Thanks for posting that though

Why does your mom keep letting you use her computer

Oh Sarge. So much Aggie, so little sense. Your Narrative is strong. Your willingness to ingest Fact and Truth is nonexistent.
Your balloon is about to get popped.
You will be able to tell by the exploding noise and because you will be standing there confused holding a string and people will be laughing at you.

Will be interesting to compare year 1 for Steele vs Chavis
Of course Steele has elite talent to work with.

When you resort to using the actions of an athletic director that our entire fanbase deems incompetent to judge the trajectory of our program, you have conceded defeat on the argument regarding the defensive coordinator.
Like it or not, the guy you have now is not the guy we had from '09-'11.

You're a brave fella standing there on the train tracks and hoping that the rumbling of the ground and sound of the horn is all in your imagination.
It's not.
It's not.

Steele will do fine this year. At Clemson his first year only saw a drop of .3 ypp and 30 ypg. The issue is that trend held each year until he left.

You couldn't even try to be a more stereotypical Aggie fan right now.

Already prepping your argument for next offseason once LSU has another top 3 defense in the SEC this year. Have an upvote for originality

The only rumble I hear comes when Chavis goes for another glass of Kool Aid.
The only horn I hear is the one that lingers from the end of LSU victories over Aggie in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Damn! So which one is Malveto? Don't feel like looking it up.

2008 - 4.48 ypp, 300 ypg..... 5.0 ypp, 325 ypg
Kevin Steele........................... John Chavis
2009 - 4.55 ypp, 314 ypg..... 4.68 ypp, 328 ypg
2010 - 4.81 ypp, 320 ypg..... 4.86 ypp, 307 ypg

2012 - ................................. 4.46 ypp, 307 ypg
2013 - ................................. 5.08 ypp, 340 ypg
2014 - ................................. 4.87 ypp, 317 ypg
So basically, what you're saying is that 2/3 of Steele's years at Clemson resembled the SEC's leading defense this past year?

That's even crazier when you consider that SEC offenses totally morphed between 2008 and the 2013/2014 period he references.
