Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier are future HOF coaches, so I don't have a problem with either on this list. I think you could probably make an argument that Spurrier could even be #1, given what he has accomplished at Florida and South Carolina, bringing both programs to national prominence.

Mark Richt above Miles seems wrong to me. He hasn't done anything of note since 2005. I would think Les Miles deserves the #3 spot, given his 2007 national title and recent SEC title.

What's the best team Vandy has beaten since Franklin has been coach? His best wins this year were against 7-6 teams Ole Miss and NC State, and he didn't beat a single team with a winning record in 2011. IMO, he's benefited from some very weak schedules.

Anyways, most of the rest of the coaches haven't done enough for us to really rank them yet.

Although, Muschamp went 11-2 last year with no offense and against one of the toughest schedules in the country, including beat 4 coaches on this list ranked above him.

So clearly, I think #10 is way too low for him.

I'll say:

1. Saban
2. Spurrier
3. Miles
4. Richt
5. Muschamp
6. Sumlin
7t. Franklin/Freeze
9. BB
10. Pinkel
11. Mullen

I'm glad it's easy to win at LSU. Why would you want it to be hard to win at your favorite school? Who gives a shite if it is more impressive? I just want my team to pile up the victories. Everyone on this list has been disciplined by Miles. Miles retired Urban. He's got a ton of skins. The better coaches per this list don't have any wins against him (sans Saban who is ranked precisely correct). Spurrier doesn't own a win over Miles which is hard to believe.

Well, if LSU is so easy to win at wouldn't we have about 30 CC's...since 1933?

He was implying that under similar circumstances Miles doesn't stand out. A monkey could win at LSU because they really don't compete with anyone in LA for recruits. Okie State, under Miles, had to recruit against OU and numerous other more glamorous schools.

This is about SEC coaches though.

Also, LSU didn't always get LA recruits. Just look at the 90s.

Like I said earlier, Coach Miles has a great opportunity this year, especially with Saban, Richt, Sumlin and Muschamp. Most of the D was lost, the O performed poorly in bowl game, the club will probably start ranked at #13 or so. A chance to silence a lot of naysayers. I'm pretty excited myself.

He certainly will. I just think it is funny we reward Mullen for mediocrity because he is at State, we penalize Miles for success because he's at LSU, but we don't discount Saban's success and he is at the most decorated football program in the conference. The best thing about trolls is they aren't consistent so it is easy to smoke them.

I like us being ranked around #13. No pressure on the players and an opportunity to prove people wrong.

IMO the easy to win statement doesn't mean much when talking NCs. You have to coach and recruit. Look at Texas, USCw, FSU, Michigan, tOSU

Also, the hard to win refrain at State rings true only because the host ingrates they have brought in there have made it look damn hard. If they just build a legitimate gameday facility, I bet they could change the culture there.

Also, over the past two seasons he has two of the most impressive moral SEC titles in conference history.

The same arguments were made last year. The easiest response to this is let him go somewhere and actually win before you crown him. You assume because he is mediocre to average at State that that means he would crush somewhere else. There's a reason it took him forever to get a gig. There's a reason State got him and he took that gig. There's a reason that no one has come a calling since then. If he's magnificent, one day he'll got to place where he can show it. Giving him a pass for his mediocrity and rewarding rank speculation by ranking him high is pretty silly.

Was second youngest coach in SEC when hired. Kiffikins was youngest. And Miami was interested as well as Penn State in Mullen. The reason he isn't "crushing it" at State is because the west is unbelievable strong during his era. If he went to B1G he would certainly have better records when he doesn't have to play LSU, Bama and usually AU every year. So he loses to schools that own the last four BCS NCG trophies even though we curbstomped AU last year. Shame on him.

He lost to Auburn two years ago and mismanaged the game doing so. How does that support he's a great coach again? You wrote a huge paragraph of excuses. All I said is let him actually show something that would indicate he's a good coach before we crown him.

In that list, I would swap Mullen and Freeze and swap Bielema and Muschamp.

Even if they were Saban's players miles won the games with his george bush level strategery.

LSU's offenses were actually somewhat explosive from 2005-2007. I don't know what happened to LSU after 2007 but their offenses have been anemic ever since. As good of a team as 2011 LSU was, their offense wasn't anything to write home about. Their special team and defensive play was pretty much perfection incarnate though.

1) Won 7 his first year
2) Landed a top 10 class
3) Took one year instead of four to beat a Western Division team not coached by Houston Nutt.

To be honest though, #1 and 3 were due a lot to outside circumstances (Arkansas and Auburn being worse than they've been in a long time) while Mullen had the #1 hardest schedule in the country so it isn't really comparable.

#2 is a legit accomplishment by Freeze
