This is absolutely laughable. Nobody gives a shite about college team sports in Boulder. Maybe some like the Broncos, but not the buffs.

Ah yes. The quaint little college town of Seattle, Washington.

Like Austin, the 1,000,000+ population metro with gridlocked highways and a plethora of skyscrapers.

Some of these things are not like the others...

Athens, Boulder, Ann Arbor, Oxford, and Eugene could all still qualify as having a "college town" feel.

Knoxville is a city, and a really gross crappy one. Not a college "town".

Seattle and Austin are huge metropolii

Palo Alto is one of the most expensive places in the US and is part of the whole SF Bay sprawl.

I've never been to Madison, so I couldn't say.

Knoxville shits on Tuscaloosa in every facet imaginable.

Even more so with the Craft beer scene/Brewery scene exploding and the redevelopment of downtown and campus over the last 3 years.

Never did I compare it to Tuscaloosa... Vols fans have some serious reading comprehension issues.

Knoxville is not even the best college town in your own state. Nashville monkeystomps all over Knoxville.

If "Seattle" counts as a college town, so does Nashville. No way you can claim Knoxville > Nashville with a straight face.

And the presence of craft beers? Please. There's a small college in the town I live in, it's a quarter the size of Knoxville, but up here in the Shenandoah Valley? This little town roflstomps the "beer scene" of Knoxville.

Towns?

Seattle has over 3.7 M, Austin has over 2 M, and Berkeley/the Bay area(its 3-4 miles from Oakland) has over 7 M.

But there's a lake there. And you can kind of see mountains if you squint long enough.

Probably because is in a terrible part of town, there is no real campus life. Even the students leave to get away. South Central Los Angeles is a cess pool.

Fayetteville should be on the list. I also think Starkville is not as bad as some are claiming on here.

Back in the 90s, the biggest problem for Starkville was that there was just nothing to do. Students talked about driving to Tuscaloosa (a 90 min drive) just to do stuff.

That might have changed, but that's my memory of the town.

Isn't Athlon just these Tennessee-centric people who always make really terrible lists of things?

According to some, Oxford is only on the list because we paid every writer in America to continually rank us up there.
