you imply-- often i've noticed-- that bret walked into a good situation. anyone that was paying attention should know that we were a complete and utter mess due to multiple things. to note just a few: petrino recruiting which focused purely on the offensive side, players lost due to various reasons and also the wasted year of jls.

i'm not even arguing that he should be that high on the list. i'm just saying you're dumb on this subject.

It's not like Houston Dale Nutt or Derek Firepants Dooley didn't leave the hill just as steep to climb for Freeze or Botch at those respective schools, but those two have successfully rebuilt for the most part in states with multiple conference schools, whereas Arkansas can probably beat Ole Miss and LSU again and still be an afterthought in the West.

Gus behind Butch Jones/Bret Bielema/Hugh Freeze is an atrocity.

Isn't Bert's biggest accomplishment in the West beating a team that won a NY6 bowl?

so arrogant

no, his biggest accomplishment is having this team on the right track after the dumpster fire left behind by Petrino

Y'all seem to have an odd obsession with that game. You won. You outplayed us. Congrats. That said, it's not the sum total of a season or a program. Not for you and not for us either.

We're for the most part on your side. I like Bert and think he's done a fantastic job given the mess he took on and the limited resources he's had. I don't know where I'd rank him as a current coach but I do believe he's done good job getting Arky back on track.

So it's just the fans on tRant who treated April 25 like a state holiday?

Makes sense, I guess. All those SEC and National Championships ol' Butch, Dan, Bret, and Hugh have won easily put them over the top amirite?

Those who think Miles at 25 is good are trolls or on serious dope. If Saban stayed at Miami, Miles and Urban would be debated for 1 and 2 on that list.

How exactly was the state Petrino/Smith left Arkansas in any worse than how Nutt left Ole Miss or Dooley left Tennessee? I think Bert's pretty decent, but what has he done to get to 8 wins and the Liberty Bowl in Year 3 that makes him so much better than someone like Freeze, Botch, or especially Miles? It's not like Bert has had to compete with any real in-state or regional program for recruits either.

Stick to talking about things you know about. It's clear you know jack shite about anything related to the Arkansas football team.

I know plenty about Arkansas. In fact, why don't I count down "Bert's Greatest Hits". We'll relive the magic of his 15 best wins, starting with #15...

#15 Greatest Bert Win: 2013 Southern Miss (1-11)
Who can forget the amazing victory back in '13 over the Golden Eagles? Southern Miss entered the game with a stellar 0-2 record, having lost in Week 1 to Texas State, and having lost a nail-biter the weak before to Nebraska by the score of 56-13. Bert's boys took the Eagles to the woodshed, winning 24-3. Southern Miss would not receover from the beating, as they went on to lose their next 8 games. With a record of 3-0 on the season, Bert proved Arkansas football was back in business!

#14 Greatest Bert Win: 2015 UTEP (5-7)

The Miners were no match for the Hogs. Arkansas defeated the highly touted team from El Paso by a score of 48-13. Prior to the beatdown, the Miners were considered one of the heavy favorites for the College Football Playoff. They did go on to win big games over Incarnate Word and Old Dominion, but they never fully recovered from the beatdown administered by the Beluga himself.

#13 Greatest Bert Win: 2014 UAB (6-6)
The 2014 whipping of the Blazers was the sole reason that UAB dropped football. They would ultimately not field a team beginning in 2015, due to the immense embarrassment of losing to Arkansas.

#12 Greatest Bert Win: 2014 Texas Tech (4-8)
This was no small win. Texas Tech had a very successful season in '14, beating the likes of Iowa State, Kansas, UTEP, and even Central Arkansas. ALL IN THE SAME YEAR!

#11 Greatest Bert Win: 2015 Missouri (5-7)
The loss to Arkansas would ultimately lead to mass protests on the Missouri campus. "Concerned Student 1950" was a group that ultimately organized to protest the embarrassment of losing to Arkansas. It culminated in a media frenzy just a few short months later.

#10 Greatest Bert Win: 2014 Texas (6-7)

There have been recent years in which the Longhorn program was down, but this was one of those great Texas squads that everyone knew was one of the best teams in the land. It was an instant classic. Never had such beautiful football been played. It is widely regarded by football historians as the best Advocare V100 Texas Bowl game in its long, storied history.

#9 Greatest Bert Win: 2015 Kansas State (6-7)

It's why we play the game beginning in September, but finally each year, the Liberty Bowl arrives. With the eyes of the nation on Memphis, Arkansas defeated highly regarded Kansas State. Never before had a 7-loss team looked so anemic. Bill Snyder actually stayed awake until the end of this one. Coach Snyder said after the game, "We are just fortunate that despite our seven losses, we can still be one of the Top 9 wins in Bert lore."

#8 Greatest Bert Win: 2015 Auburn (7-6)

Despite 4 overtimes, Gus Malzahn was simply no match for Beluga. Auburn fans left Fayetteville with their heads down, knowing full well they had hired the wrong guy after the 2012 season. Auburn fans had to instead look on at the glorious celebration and wonder what it would be like to have their coach take them to a game of such magnitude. Maybe, just maybe, Gus Malzahn will know what it is like to play on that type of stage.

#7 Greatest Bert Win: 2013 Louisiana Lafayette (9-4)
The Rajun Cajuns were apart of history: Arkansas football's grand return to football glory. This was the start to an epic 3-game winning streak.

#6 Greatest Bert Win: 2014 Northern Illinois (11-3)
It's not often Northern Illinois make the Top 6 of anything, but the Top 6 wins for Bert Beluga belong to them. They finished #37 in the receiving votes at the end of the 2014 season.

#5 Greatest Bert Win: 2014 LSU (8-5)
So what if this was Les Miles' worst record of his entire LSU career, a win over LSU is a huge deal. LSU finished #31 in the Final AP poll of the season... and an accomplishment like that for Bert needs no more explanation.

#4 Greatest Bert Win: 2015 Tennessee (9-4)
The Vols actually finished #22 in the AP! This was a gigantic win! Do you know how rare it is for a team to beat a team that finishes in the Top 25??? Let's just say it only happens a few times per year in all of college football.

#3 Greatest Bert Win: 2014 Ole Miss (9-4)

The Ole Miss Rebels only lost four games in 2014, and one of those was not to Bama. Making this not only one of Bert's biggest wins, but also one of the Hog programs's greatest wins.

#2 Greatest Bert Win: 2015 LSU (9-3)
LSU was no match for Arkansas this day. LSU never drops games they shouldn't, so this victory was made all the more special.

#1 Greatest Bert Win: 2015 Ole Miss (10-3)
Okay, so they still had 3 losses and failed to win the West, but this win over Ole Miss was so epic, all of college football was jealous. It is widely regarded as the single greatest accomplishment of the past 20 years for the entire sport.
