I see your problem. I am not saying AM is a great program. Just UT has dropped below them.

Their recruiting area rivals Ole Miss. Facilities are below SEC standards. It has been more than a decade since UT played a meaningful game. TAMU is a head of them, and I don't think it is close.

As far as recruiting goes Tenn doesn't have to fight as hard for the big recruits in their area. A&M has to fend off Texas,OU,and LSU. You then have teams like Bama, Ohio State, and FSU come cherry pick some of the top players in Texas also. Then for second tier players A&M has to fend off Arkansas, Mizzou, and the entire big 12.

I don't know that it is. Tennessee isn't a good team right now but it's still a great job. They're always among the nations leaders in revenue. They have a history of success, not the last 10 years but over the course of history only Alabama in the conference exceeds what they've done. Their facilities are as good as anyone's. They have a long list of very successful NFL players to sell. They have great fan support generally speaking. While Tennessee obviously doesn't have the recruiting territory that A&M does, they are close to a lot of major cities with great players. Recruiting hasn't even been a problem with Bruce, so I think that point is pretty moot IMO.

It's still a tier one job IMO. I think the comparisons to Nebraska that get brought up are kind of silly.

In what capacity? I've mentioned money and facilities. That's obvious. Everything else, there is no argument for.

It was just last year when TAMU becamse TransferU.

Because as bad as College Station is, the Head Coach still doesn't have to live in Knoxville

what's wrong with Knoxville? It's in a beautiful area of the country, the price of living is reasonable, it's a nice small sized city with any amenity you'd need, and a great place to raise a family.

what?

They have undertaken a complete renovation of Neyland. Their football ops building was finished like 2 years ago and rivals any D1 program. They have also just torn down and rebuilt all the athletic dorm rooms. The campus has also been completely redone over the last 10 years.

They've recruited really well under Butch, so I'm not sure where you're getting this. That hasn't been an issue.

A&M has gone 24-15 the last 3 years. Tennessee has gone 25-14. Sure A&M has played in the West, but it's not like they have separated themselves from UT.

Texas is a more fertal recruiting ground and TAMU is also one of the biggest universities in the US. They have more upside then UT. TAMU will be able to hire a higher quality coach then UT

This has always been the case with them, yet somehow they've never been able to reach the levels of success Tennessee has

Lol. Trolling the Vols is fun but when you put stupid shite like this down, it makes the troll miss the mark. Like most of the SEC, facilities are top shelf. Both Tennessee and TAMU have facilities that are considered among the best in the country.

We didn't have the facilities and the access to media that we have today until this decade.

Most schools in this conference have made major upgrades to their facilities in the last 10 years. A&M is not special in this regard. Media access as well.

I never argued we were special. You were making the point that "A&M always had these advantages" and I was pointing out we didn't until recently.

I fully admit programs like Tenn have comparable facilities and media access. The different is Tenn can't combo that with the natural recruiting base of Texas that we have always had.

Any time someone ignorantly claims that, all you have to do is show the fact that A&M was only televised 6 times during the entire 2009 season:

Arkansas - ESPN2
Oklahoma State - FSN
at Kansas State - Fox College Sports Central (basically PPV)
at Colorado - Fox College Sports Central
at Oklahoma - FSN
t.u. - ESPN

Tennessee hasn't been a great program for a while. I find it humorous when UT fans talk about it as an upper echelon program. Butch is recruiting at a level as high as they've ever seen there and they still aren't getting it done. The facilities are older and dated. They haven't been able to compete for a title while playing in the embarrassingly weak Eastern division. They have been Bama and Florida's bitch for a decade.

They could probably get back to prominence with a Saban-type hire, but it would take a lot of effort to get it done, although playing in the East helps.
