Hell the LSU fans left at halftime because the game vs. Auburn was over after 30 minutes.

The real reason you posted this thread.

It's easy to make a case that FSU is a great team because they've put a licking on basically everyone, but you can't discredit a team that has lost less than 5 times in 3 years

Your basically making a case for Ohio St. Crappy schedule, but they hadn't lost in 2 years

Bama is ranked #1 because THIS YEAR's bama team is perceived as the best team.

Bama went unbeaten, and two other teams played for the title, they should just tell the University "We know you've been the champions for two straight years, but because the teams you played ended up not being as good as these other teams, you don't get a fair chance to defend you title. Sorry, go shutout some scrub in the Sugar Bowl."

If there were 3 unbeaten teams and bama had played the worse SOS of all 3 , then yes they should be left out. You would be saying the same thing if it was the other way around. How can you tell a team that played a better schedule ," hey we know you beat more ranked teams and have a better SOS but bama won a title LAST YEAR , so we are gonna let them into the title for no reason". How would that be fair and before a gump says ," life isn't fair!" This is sports. It's supposed to be fair. If it isn't fair, why are we even playing the games.

We're ranked #1 because the pollsters like to screw with LSU fans. We all get together every Tuesday and laugh.

A healthy UGA still has defensive issues. Granted, their offense is potent when healthy. If they hadn't lost Gurley partway through the LSU game, the margin of victory would likely have been notably higher. But you need a great defense to be able to be one of the best, no matter how good your offense is.

Basically.. exactly. This seasons accomplishments on the field should be all that matter.

I agree to an extent, but there is no perfect way to do it.

Again, if it was different and Bama's schedule was set to be crazy hard, but then the good teams all fricked up and sucked, you can hold that against them and say they can't defend their title? There is an argument for every side. I don't care how they do it, as long as Bama hoists the trophy in the Rose Bowl to end the second unbeaten season in 5 years, fourth title in five years, and to send off the BCS Era. That's how it should be.

At least FSU has taken TWO top 10 teams to the woodshed

Miami isn't in the top 10. Nor should they have been. Needed last minute TDs against freakin Wake Forest and North Carolina (both just awful, awful teams) to win.

ETA - Bama is the two time defending champions and you cannot definitively say they are not the best team in the country. Therefore, they should be no.1

Meh. If two other teams look better I'd rather watch them play.

Yet I'm not the one starting threads about why LSU is ranked number...are you still ranked, by the way?

Stop pandering so obviously and relax. Oregon will take the 2 spot back if they win out.

Because people put too much stock in SoS. You can't help what the teams you play do, and you can't predict who will be good. No reason to punish a team for it if the eye test says they're legit.

If a team played the toughest schedule, but won every game by a FG, would you put them in over a team that played a top 20 schedule, but dominated everyone they played?

I see every side, and you're right, it's tough to say the team that plays the tougher SoS shouldn't get in, but it's equally as tough to say a team can't FAIRLY defend their title because the teams they played shite the bed. There is no perfect solution, and there never will be.

Yes because of we aren't choosing teams based on resume then what is the point? Every team should go independent and play top 50 and below teams. Using the eyeball test is about as biased and subjective as you get. You are gonna choose teams over personal preference rather than their resume. If you are a fan of big gaudy offensive numbers, you'll over look teams like bama that usually won't score 50 points but will dominate a team more so than say a Oregon team. Personal preference shouldn't decide BCSCG participants.
