Ok...but you also have to look at the current roster for the current year...too many question marks for a top 15 team IMO

Yeah but that's just what happens when you're successful. You start getting the benefit of the doubt. I'd expect the same thing if we went 23-3 over two seasons as well. Look at 2012. Even after losing Petrino we were still #10 the first week because of the success the last two years.

Though I'm still of the opinion there shouldn't be any rankings until midway through the season.

I see the parallels...I just don't see it playing out that way having to replace so much on the offensive side of the ball...Kenny Trill isn't being protected by 1st round talent

Sounds like your secondary could go from liability to asset. Interesting.

The starters will be much more experienced and I think they played pretty well the 2nd half of last year,

but we are still thin in the secondary and a little injury prone, so we're going to need some luck with injuries to see material improvement.

We still don't have the athletes in the back seven that bama has and lack talent in the back four that lsu has consistently.

Ole Miss and MSU were truly horrific defensive displays. Maybe that comes down to scrambling QBs being our kryptonite, but its not like those are disappearing. We'll be facing one against TCU and Ole Miss again. Maybe more I'm forgetting.

This report is not based on facts. More like a hogville wish list. QB hasn't stood out. Defense has rolled out O line. Qb's can't be touched. Starting basically a redshirt freshman that will probably be replaced by years end by a true 6'7" freshmen. D line will be strength. Still have RB injury issues.

I agree that the D line has rolled the O line and that could be ugly for us this year.

I disagree that we will end up having RB issues unless we have a significant injury to Williams or Whaley.

But did AA piss in your cheerios or something? This isn't the first time you've shat on him for no reason and claimed the true freshman Cole Kelley will jump both him and Ty Story to be our starter. WTF?

That is complete BS. Every report has said he has been lights out, putting up similar camp numbers that Brandon did. Look at any beat writer's take on the latest scrimmage. Apparently he had 2 or 3 difficult throws that were absolute beauties that were right on the money.

Also AA isn't "basically a redshirt freshman", he's a redshirt junior. I'd love to hear you explain that one away.

He is just angry that he made a ban bet that involved his brother not getting drafted and lost. He refused to acknowledge it. He has been proven wrong many times and is just doubling down at this point.

That is an alter of a poster long since banned from the SECr by the original name of HawgAlude. The guy has some sort of weird obsession with acting like a Hog fan and bashing Arkansas. Don't waste your time.

Very much appreciate all of the serious responses. It can be done. I look forward to the game vs y'all. Sounds like your secondary could go from liability to asset. Interesting.

Meh. No way. I think we will struggle again. Same defense as we had last year. The one glimmer of hope I have is Paul Rhodes. Experience means nothing as I saw NO improvement by them by the end of the year last year, unlike our offense.

But, our DLine should be better, but if they are the same they will be serviceable. Our LBs should be MUCH improved as weve added a lot of depth there. If we arent markedly improved at LB I will be very disappointed.

I expect teams to throw it around on us though

Too lazy to both read through the entire thread or to give a comprehensive answer as I'm sure others have.

I'll readily admit that I fully expect us to start slow and wouldn't be surprised if we're 3-2 going into Alabama and/or 3-3 going into our brutal stretch run of Ole Miss, @Auburn, Florida, LSU, @MSU, and @Mizzou.

However, the midpoint of the season is where we usually start going strong, and we've been that team that no one wants to play in October or November for the last two years. Last year we couldn't win the line of scrimmage or establish the run against Toledo at home, yet a month later we're running over Tennessee in Knoxville and beating the shite out of LSU in Baton Rouge, so who knows. That back half of the schedule is tough, but we get arguably the three toughest opponents at home.

It all depends on whether our line gels, Austin Allen is as good as his camp has shown, the backs are seviceable, and our experience on defense takes a big step forward from last year.
