I think that this would be an excellent thread to bookmark for an Arkansas fan, considering it comes from an Auburn fan...irony may be lurking in the bushes.

Yeah maybe so, but take a look at last year. If you ask the question "what have you done for me lately" then the Gus bus is going over a cliff.

Honestly I think Arkansas fan's regard for Bielema is a bit mixed. We like the program he is building but the slow starts he is prone too are murder. Losing to a team in week 2 that you would trounce in week 12 wears on you after a while.

On the other hand his teams tend to have one hell of a finishing kick to the season.

We had to rebuild everything in our program...culture, academics, brand and product on the field. He's doing a good job IMO in all of these areas and improving win totals year after year. If we didn't play in the SEC West we may have seen quicker results and I don't believe he is in any jeopardy of losing his job any time soon. A few losing seasons in a row is the only way he gets canned.

I like the guy and I like his style of football

I'm happy so far.

I think if you dissect the losses there are 4-5 that easily could and probably should have been wins. Granted there is one win that could have been a loss...but since it was against Ole Miss...well..they are Ole Miss.

While the progress hasn't been sudden and dramatic, it does seem to be the type of progress that is sustainable and building. As Ole Miss implodes and LSU gets more of LESS I think that will help the hogs recruiting. There are serious connections being made into Looserana. There's a very real chance that Arkansas can emerge along with A&M as the next best choice behind Bama for recruits....and Nicky can't coach forever.

Another view is...what if he did leave...then what? You end up with some mickey mouse gimmicky coach coming out of a program like Arkansas State probably.

Bielema was not expected to maintain a program, he has to build one. I dont live in a microwave world where I expect him to do that overnight. His teams pass the eye test as far as performance goes and they have gotten better each year. He is building depth and a program that can be maintained. So yes I am happy with Bielema. If we get to a point where it seems as if we can only win 7-9 games per year then it may be time for him to go. His clock for me basically starts this year.

Two 8 win regular seasons doesn't count as "really good".

I'd agree. Especially considering Bert's watershed moment this far has been beating a 6-6 Texas squad in a meaningless bowl game.

He got a raise for the, right?

what's been les' watershed moment since beliema got here- beating a&m and getting carried off the field?

Damn LSU fans are obviously worried lol. I guess getting beat down the last two years is more than they can take.

Bret has expanded his offense to include the forward pass. Bama and AR have the most balanced offenses in the SEC west by far. We both can run it and throw it, what AR hasn't had in a while is a strong Defense with depth. That's where AR is going to surprise a lot of people this year. This team has quietly been building a strong defense with interchangeable depth, the Bama model. Yes Bret is good with us and we feel our time is coming. What we don't want is Auburn gimmicky crap that doesn't hold up when you don't have an all world running QB that can stay on the field all year.

We are happy with the progress each year.
We know what he started with.
We are knowledgeable.
For example - we warned Ole Miss about Houston.
We gave you a heads up on Malzhan.

Are we where we want to be? Not yet, but headed that direction.

Only time will tell to what level CBB's total rebuild will take us.

He has proven that his brand of football can defeat Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas... and play Bama close. Never could get a handle on Dak Prescott, but we may break that streak this year.

So, in short, yes, we are fairly happy at the moment.

You realize that Arkansas' record has improved every year since Beleima has taken over and Auburn's has gotten worse every year since Malzahn has taken over, right?

who said Les had one? I actually agreed a few posts ago that Les should've been fired for the team's performance down the stretch last year.

I'm just Confused about the hype Arkansas fans have for Bert. He's done very little in his time in Fayetteville.

He talks a big game and gets the fan base stirred up, but his best season thus far includes losses to Toldeo and Texas tech.

Arkansas or Auburn? You're confusing me.

You got a downgrade at DC. Your QB is a mess. Your coach can't adjust his play calling to his personnel. Your best defensive player is injury prone. You have an excruciatingly tough schedule.

And you want to troll Arkansas? Who finished higher in the SEC West last year?

Comparing a coach (Les Miles) who has an average of 10 wins a season over 11 years in the SEC, won 2 SEC Titles, won 3 SEC West Titles, played in 2 National Championship Games, and won a National Title to a coach (Bert)
who has started his career in the SEC with an 0-8 record and has accomplished virtually nothing in his 3 years at Arkansas is just silly.

Also when a coach starts his career in the SEC 0-8 it is pretty damn easy to "show improvement" over his next couple of seasons.

What should concern Arkansas fans is the apparent lack of recruiting ability of Bert and his staff. You are not going to win big or consistantly in the SEC when your recruiting classes are ranked in the 30s.

Really? I am surprised that Texas' record had improved each year. So, you are saying that Texas is showing improvement?
