True. but if a Georgia fan got on here and talked about Auburn's lack of success the past couple of years, don't you think you (Actually other Auburn posters) would bring up Georgia's lack of a National Title in like....forever?

I actually don't have anything against Auburn. (I think you realize this) However, I get tired of the constant trolling that goes on here, and like to point out obvious hypocrisy when trolls (AU24)come out to play.

Comparing a coach (Les Miles) who has an average of 10 wins a season over 11 years in the SEC, won 2 SEC Titles, won 3 SEC West Titles, played in 2 National Championship Games, and won a National Title to a coach (Bert)
who has started his career in the SEC with an 0-8 record and has accomplished virtually nothing in his 3 years at Arkansas is just silly.

Also when a coach starts his career in the SEC 0-8 it is pretty damn easy to "show improvement" over his next couple of seasons.

What should concern Arkansas fans is the apparent lack of recruiting ability of Bert and his staff. You are not going to win big or consistantly in the SEC when your recruiting classes are ranked in the 30s.

Recruited good enough to curb stomp LSU the last two years.

You do understand that in Gus Malzahns first year at Auburn he did more than Arkansas has been able to do in 26 YEARS

And since he got his own players? how has that worked out for him?

Now the Rant, especially Arky fans are quick to point out that Gus recruited that entire roster anyway and that was the reason for his success in 2013, not his coaching.

Well that was the Auburn talking point at the time of his hire for why he was such a great hire.

Two 8 win regular seasons doesn't count as "really good".

Well, LSU won 9 last year and had an almost certain win cancelled, so I think it's safe to say you had a really good year. It matches your 2012 and 2013 years and is better than your 2014 year.

Well, we both know that one coach does not recruit an entire roster. I can see him getting credit for recruiting the 2013 offense which was magnificent. But, (IMO) the QB is the key and the two QB's he had success with...he did not recruit. They were kicked off their previous teams. Is the potential there? Sure. But for AU24 to come on here and try to denigrate Beilema seems rather odd to me when you look at the total body of work. if I were an Auburn fan, I think I would quit hating on other teams coaches until my own coach brings his team back around. Again...it is only AU24 that is trying to make fun of Beilema, that I can see.

I'd agree. Especially considering Bert's watershed moment this far has been beating a 6-6 Texas squad in a meaningless bowl game.

I would say beating LSU and Ole Miss were bigger wins than beating Texas.

But we DO know his post history. Honestly, Duncan, do you think it was a sincere question? Read his follow up response, too.

I mean he did recruit them. He didn't sign them out of HS and develop them for a couple of years and I think that is what you take issue with (as do we). I lay that more at the feet of his "OC" and QB coach though.

Ok. You got me. I forgot about the Junior Colleges!

I have no problem with Auburn taking them, believe me. It's a part of the game, and they kept their noses clean after their problems.

After rereading his OP, I would have to admit that it does appear to be an innocuous, innocent post. However, for me it just shows that he can be a subtle troll when he wants to be.

Unfortunately, we have to live with the reputations that we create for ourselves. It will take a decent amount of serious conversations for me to take any of his posts/threads as anything more than a simple troll.

(All that to say, you make a good/legitimate point.)

OH! I had forgotten about that. While I don't approve of marijuana use (No, I am not getting into an argument about it!) he really did little more than what most college players do.

ETA

Gotta run. As always it's good to see and talk to you, Duncan.

There are very few coaches in college football that could pull sub 20 recruiting classes consistently at Arkansas. It is not easy to recruit here and the talent is very underwhelming when comparing to the other SEC states. Bert's issue as not been recruiting. To this point he has done a great job in his career evaluating talent.

Bert needs to get his team playing with more consistency at the beginning of the season.

Congrats on winning your super bowl.

Keep feeding that ego and we'll keep taking knees on your goal line to run out the clock.

Yeah but a 4 OT game where the other team dropped 10 passes... there was never a chance Arkansas could've lost that. Ole Big Boy Bielema was in control the whole time, all part of his coaching master plan
