Right and if the man covering TE does his job then the TE isn't open.

previous seasons. There were no elite SEC defenses last season. There weren't any elite defenses in the country last season.
2011 Alabama defense >>> 2012
2009 Alabama defense > 2012
That's why I asked if you were comparing it to the rest of the 2012 CFB teams.

2011 Capital One Bowl defense > 2012
lol, why did you include this?

2012 LSU defense >= 2012 Alabama defense

Alabama didn't even have the best defense in the conference last season; Florida owned it.
UF was a little better, but it was closer than you are making out to be.

You've got to admit that the units were at least equal. LSU's defense didn't even show up against Ole Miss. Alabama had 400+ yard games against the 3 legit teams on their schedule. All 3 teams had about 300 yards passing against our secondary. Giving up 400+ yards is not an elite performance. Elite defenses, rarely if ever give up over 300.

UF was more than just "a little better". The most yards Florida gave up last season was 363 @ Vanderbilt. They were the only SEC defense that didn't have a 400 yard game. I can't think of anyone else in the country whom could beat that.
Florida's defense allowed 26 points in their last 2 games. They let EJ Manuel run a touchdown in as time expired. Also, Louisville struck quick after a failed, misguided onside kick attempt. Let's not forget that Florida's defense did not even show up against Louisville.
