If I am not mistaken didn't Bama win every game in 2011 by double digits except the 9-6 LSU loss that should have been double digits ? 4 or 5 missed fgs and a TE allowing a small DB to take the ball from him on the goal line.

God damn. The DB TOOK the ball. It wasn't allowed, it was taken from him.

'should have been double digits' OK.

I love the mentality that nobody ever beats Bama, Bama lets them win. Bama makes mistakes to lose, never has there been a team that was just better.

You mean the #6 overall pick in the draft and Thorpe Award winner DB?

Yeah, ridiculous that he allowed that to occur.

No, he means Eric Reid. Who got drafted 18th and didn't win that award.

But your point stands. The DB went and took the ball, it was his talent. It wasn't the TE.

That is just the mentality right now. Shula era was different. We currently have talent to beat anyone in the country, and the best coast in the country. Usually that means when you lose it is because of mistakes and mental errors.

LSU OT loss for example, multiple unforced penalties that pushed us into foster field goal range instead of shelley, or the other receiver running to far downfield so that Reid is in range to make the int (phenomenal play by him, but he wasn't even on that man and shouldn't have been in the area had the correct route been run).

Not to say LSU didn't make a lot of plays themselves, but Alabama kept shooting themselves in the foot as well.

I could turn around and say the reason we lost last year was because of our mistakes. We 'let' you run down the field in the final seconds of the 4th to score a TD and win.

Or, I could be honest with myself and say that Bama drew up good plays and executed them perfectly.

LSU currently has the talent to beat anyone in the country, and arguably the second best coach in the country. Still, teams beat us because they play better and execute better.

It takes away from the opponent when you only credit their win with your teams ineptitude. Sometimes mistakes are forced. Even 'unforced penalties' are forced based on the previous 4 quarters.

When your OL is getting pushed back all game, guys are coming off the corners flying around, your OL is trying to compensate. False starts happen because of that sometimes.

LSU will always have the best chance to beat Alabama. They match up as far as scheme and conditioning goes and players almost match up with Alabama's as far as quality

I gave examples of penalties and running the wrong route, not lining up and getting beat.

did you read my last statement where I said LSU made a lot of plays?

Also you are almost arguing semantics. Does the team that plays better not usually make the fewest mental errors?

I was trying to say that getting beat throughout a game will lead you to false start later in that game.

I did.

The game I look forward to most every year. And I mean that in terms of College Football as a whole.

More than USC/ND, OSU/MICH, UT/OU, UF/FSU, UF/UGA or anything else.

it's all good, and Alabama fans do tend to say they lost the games too much and not give the other team credit.

Also ftr, losing in 2011 to y'all still pisses me off, because although the crystal makes up for it. Missing out on SEC championship still stings.

Something most LSU fans don't seem to care about.

I'm still very proud of that team/season and happy as hell to have the SEC Trophy.

To be fair, we've got plenty of fans who do the exact same thing.

Every fan base can make excuses for why they lost a game. Our loss last year against the aggies I still do not understand the play calling on the goal line. And I know the aggies did not draw up the play where JFF fumbled, recovered the ball, and then threw a TD. But in the end most of the time it comes down to the other team putting themselves in a position to win. The aggies did that in the 1st qtr just like USC did to UA in 2010.

You have to play 4 qtrs. and execute.

I am not sure how the team will gel this year and will not know until the 1st game but I do think the schedule sets up better and our roster is built better overall to be better than the last 2 years. So yes what the OP threw out there could happen.

You do realize that from the start of the second qrt until the end of the game, LSU outgained Bama

Yep. The greatest oline in SEC history and a 240 lbs beats at rb should've had 4 tries from inside the 5.

the stats of the game have escaped me after two years. But yards don't always tell the whole story.

I am talking wasted scoring opportunities because of mistakes in the most important parts of the field.
