Alabama won the national title last year and was one play away from winning it this year.

Alabama has won 3 straight SEC championships and has made all 3 CFP's since its existence.

That doesn't sound very "dead" to me.

I've seen a lot of folks talk about this and seen some pushback, but there is zero doubt our "dynasty" at a national level is over. From 2009-2012 we won 3 of 4 national titles. From 2013-2016 we've won 1 of 4 national titles. Personally, that doesn't bother me (mainly because it's the facts). It's an insane standard to continue and there are tons of incredible programs with great coaches around the country. It is not a reasonable expectation to expect to win the majority or even half of all national championships in a 4-5 year period.

For some reason people take that as meaning Alabama will now start going 8-4 every year. There is a big difference in not winning the national title every year and becoming Vanderbilt (sorry Vanderbilt, no disrespect intended).

The king is dead, long live the king.

I have not fapped in several days.

It is done.

Where do you see Alabama football globally then now?

If Alabama does not continue winning Natties it can't be because of:
Talent (You are about to win your 8th straight #1 class)
Facilities
Money

Why would you stop winning National Titles, in your opinion?

This is precisely what has driven Alabama's success since 2009. Alabama's program is highly committed to winning championships and it's administration is equally committed which provides a substantial operating budget. Bama's 2017 recruiting class is projected to finish at the top and claim the #1 class for the 7th year in a row. This continuous yearly influx of elite talent provides quality depth at most positions. This is where Saban deserves the most credit as a coach IMO. He gets all the credit for Alabama's run of championships but the fact is football games and championships are won with the players. He's a great coach that's been very successful with great players.

I can see why the OP is suggesting Bama's "Dynasty" is over simply b/c they recently lost and they have won 1 championship out of the last 4. This isn't a disservice to Bama and it doesn't diminish the programs incredible success since 2009.

Guys, read the whole thread before overreacting please.

This was a specific nuanced discussion on a very specific claim, "dynasty", not some sort of "bama decline" post.

It's because there are playoffs now

And they are t just giving teams titles or claiming them

No more winning champs over fluky Irish teams.
