My guess is more so the talk would be about the SEC than Alabama specifically

Possible to happen. Certainly wouldn't go with "very likely".

Hope not, the place would be boring without that.

I've seen a lot of folks talk about this and seen some pushback, but there is zero doubt our "dynasty" at a national level is over.

I'm sorry but this is a shitty post and full of fail.

From 2009-2012 we won 3 of 4 national titles. From 2013-2016 we've won 1 of 4 national titles.

So in other words we have won 4 titles in 8 years? or half the championships over an 8 year period? That somehow indicates that dynasty over?

If Alabama can win a NC every 10 years, I'm pumped. Thoroughly giddy if we can do it 1 out of every 5. Jizz pants level anything more than that, which we have been doing the last decade.

go out and win 3 straight then yea, looking back

I guess it just depends on the definition of a "dynasty". I think a dynasty basically means you win at least 75% of the titles or more. Now, if we over the period it will be a national dynasty. But at this point in time, 4 different teams have won the last 4 national titles. That doesn't scream dynasty to me - which is fine with me.

I guess it just depends how people define the term, really. I see it as meaning complete and utter domination of the sport - which we haven't done the last 4 years. However, we've still done more than anyone else. It isn't like our "dynasty" was replaced by another, and we still have the most consistent and accomplished record over that period.

- UCLA had a basketball dynasty in the 70s
- The Yankees had a baseball dynasty in the 30's - 50's and the late 90s/2000.
- The Bulls had a basketball dynasty in the 90s
- The Lakers had a basketball dynasty in the 50s, 80s and early 2000s
- The Celtics had a basketball dynasty in 60s

We'll probably look back on this entire era of Saban as a dynasty, especially if we win another title.

Bama will be in the mix every year that Saban is there. You could lose the SECC a couple times, not make the final 4 a few times, and the "dynasty" would still be in affect.

Folks still talk about the USC dynasty with Pistol Pete. They won 1 MNC....

Well that is pretty arbitrary

I would also remind you that we were a play away from playing for a title in 2008, a play or so away from playing for a title in 2014, and a play away from winning a title in 2017.

So in addition to winning 4 titles in 8-years, there were 3 more years where we were on the cusp of winning and lost by the skin of our teeth to the eventual champion (Florida, OSU, Clemson)

Also, you realize that most teams go decades without sniffing a title yet Bama has either won or competed for the title pretty much every single year sans 2010.

No other team has won as much or has stayed as competitive as Bama and the story isn't finished as Saban is still in his prime and we have yet another #1 class coming in.

Oh yea - I totally agree

Of course - 100% agree. We're by far the most consistently competitive program in America. The stats are almost unreal. I think the bigger point is how damn hard it is to win championships year after year after year. If we can't do it, with how close we are every year, then I doubt anyone will ever do it again.

It is arbitrary but let's look at it another way

OSU was ineligible in 2012 and 1 play away from making it last year. That could be 2 less fr Bama and 2 more for OSU. Bama has been in it every year so I see no reason why it is over. You have to win an additional game now against a top 5 team so it makes it that much harder for any team/coach

But the banners fly in Bama not Columbus

How many of those other 3 teams have been in contention for the title every one of those years? how many of the other 3 teams have been ranked #1 in every one of those 4 years?

Bama being in contention for a title has been a reality of 8 of the last 9 seasons on the final week of the regular season. I'm not sure any other team could say that about 1/2 of those seasons, much less 89% of those seasons.

I think people throw around the term dynasty far too often. Wooden's UCLA run was a dynasty, Russell's Celtics run was a dynasty, Jordan's bulls run was a dynasty. Those are clearly dynasties. It's a lot less clear whether or not the late 70s Steelers or the early 00s Patriots were 'dynasties'. They certainly weren't at the same level as those others.

I'd equate Bama's recent success to Duncan's Spurs or maybe Brady's Patriots. I wouldn't necessarily call them dynasties, but definitely consistently great and always in the mix.

We could go around and around .....That assumes you would have beaten Bama. That is like assuming we would have beat Oregon (I think we would have)or beaten FSU had Kick 6 not happened (I think we would have lost)

SEC Dynasty was winning 7 in a row (2006 to 2012) with Alabama being the dominate team. Alabama is still the dominate team in the nation, but the dynasty is over.

Every other school in the nation would swap with Bama's record the last 10 years.

The dynasty started to end with the Kick 6 in 2013, was further knocked down when Bama lost to tOSU in the 2014 playoff and Clemson this year.
