I've seen a lot of folks talk about this and seen some pushback, but there is zero doubt our "dynasty" at a national level is over. From 2009-2012 we won 3 of 4 national titles. From 2013-2016 we've won 1 of 4 national titles. Personally, that doesn't bother me (mainly because it's the facts). It's an insane standard to continue and there are tons of incredible programs with great coaches around the country. It is not a reasonable expectation to expect to win the majority or even half of all national championships in a 4-5 year period.

For some reason people take that as meaning Alabama will now start going 8-4 every year. There is a big difference in not winning the national title every year and becoming Vanderbilt (sorry Vanderbilt, no disrespect intended).

The king is dead, long live the king.

Acceptance? I think it's acceptance. Is that a stage?

I hate to say it but Alabama ain't going anywhere. As long as Saban is there, they are the SEC favorites.

And we are probably stuck with Saban another ten or so years. Woe is us.

Yea - the SEC Dynasty (if that's even a thing) is still pretty clearly in tact. 3 in a row, 4 of 5, 5 of 8.

I hope you're right but Saban will continue his 5* recruiting pipeline.

That's because these are arbitrary time frames. From 2001-2008 Alabama won 0 National Titles and 0 SEC titles. From 2009-2016 Alabama won 4 National Titles and 5 SEC titles. '08-11 has 2; '12-16 has 2.

Because there is no set definition of a "dynasty", it's impossible to know when it starts and when it ends without the benefit of hindsight.

But that's kind of my point - people's reaction to "the Dynasty is over" is to act like the implication is it means Alabama sucks now.

I think the point is Alabama is now one of a handful of elite teams that wins national titles, and probably the program most consistently in the hunt for those titles.

I don't see that as some sort of awful negative.

Just put things in perspective. Alabama, led by an 18 year old true freshman QB, lost in the last second of its 3rd straight playoff run.

The Yankees don't win it all every year either. Bama will be fine.

Sure - excellent point. My point was just more to the fact that it isn't unreasonable at this point to claim that the monodynasty Alabama had over college football has passed. It doesn't mean Alabama won't win another title, but the title most every year period has clearly passed.

no one on earth thinks that.

Alabama lost a game. Y'all are the ones taking it harder than most (aside from LSU fans of course which is par for the course).

You still have saban, you still have a top recruiting class, you're still stocked with 5 stars. You will still be in the playoffs next year. Here's your validation.

Alabama will continue winning the SEC for the next 7 years, but will be consistently challenged by other conferences champions and will continue to win 1 out if 4

This was more to point to the fact that a claim stating Alabama's singular strangle hold over college football was probably over doesn't mean Alabama isn't still the consistent, best overall program in college football like some of our fans seem to equate it with.

Here's the thing, the championship still goes through Alabama for the foreseeable future. My comment was tongue in cheek in reference to some of these other nonsensical threads by the various tiger clans amongst us.

I don't know if that will happen, but that was kind of my overall point.

A dynasty would win every year or most years. Winning 1 of 4 years is incredible and awesome, but it doesn't meet the standard of a "dynasty". And that's ok.

What will be interesting is the narrative of Alabama being 0-1 to begin 2017. Very likely to happen, but Bama would still win the SEC
