I'm not for sure if it's the biggest rivalry, but no doubt it is the most important game played in the SEC every year....shite a lot of years it's the biggest game played in the entire country....even already have a "Game of the Century". Everyone who enjoys college football knows it's the premiere game of the year, as it usually knocks out a huge National Title contender that no one wants to face

xactly, GregAl. My best friend and I discussed this yesterday (we're both old enough to remember games that Coach Bryant coached). I asked him "If we could only beat one, would you rather beat Tennessee or LSU this year?" He said LSU, and so did I.

I agree with this

you can call it a rivalry or whatever you want. Year in year out I want to beat Bama.

Bama fans if LSU was playing any other SEC school who do you hope wins generally?

I usually hope it is bama that loses bc I know 1 how important it is for them to get a loss, and 2 f them.

In 2008, one team won a championship and the other ended the year behind ole miss and with a losing record in sec play. It's as arbitrary as starting it in 2007, for example. How can you not see this?

Might as well start in 05 with the logic. New coach at LSU, this game decided the west.

Where is my point in relation to your head?

Agreed...and LSU fans who say it isn't are just trying to appease those very BAMA fans who wont acknowledge it. Is it 50 years worth of tradition and history? Of course not. But the last 10 years have been awesome, and it doesn't look to be going anywhere. I love the fact that LSU doesn't "have any rivals" because I hate all of y'all. But this game has grown into a rival of sorts.

I never really paid attention to Bama until Saban arrived so that game has more to do with Saban than Bama

I for one started hating them when they got back into the Top 10 back in 2005 after being terrible (started watching college football in 2001). I got infuriated at the media love they got at that time for seemingly looking so mediocre at times. It was so glorious to see LSU go in and shut them up.

Why are you struggling so much with this? Since 2008 going forward Alabama and LSU have been consistently the best teams in the conference. Thus the game is important. Both have had the most talent and been the biggest threat to each other in the division. There isn't a slight at LSU buried in there, why are you being so dense?

No. 5 of the last 7, and LSU has won 8 of the last 15 since 2000 (when football began).

I can't speak for him, but I usually imagine what the person in everyone's avitar photo's voice would sound like and read in that imaginary tone.

It's more fun that way...

Some people don't understand what a rivalry is. Bama/LSU is without a doubt the biggest game in the SECW every year. That does not, by itself, make it a rivalry. There has to be hate involved.

LSU was about 6th in conference. Why are you struggling with this? 5 loss team in 2008 and a 4 loss team in 2009. LSU was in a valley starting in 2008. It really doesn't matter, but if you start your history in 2008 because both teams were the cream of the crop, you aren't correct.

The fact that both schools schedule their bye week the week before this game tells you all you need to know.

We schedule the bye week now because of where we are in the season, not because LSU is next.

I would want you to beat AU or UT. Against anyone else, it just depends on the records at the time. I want you to beat Ole Miss this year.

How does it feel to know that OM losing another is a foregone conclusion?

Anyways maybe one day you can stretch these 2 victories into sustained 11-win seasons and become an elite program all of a sudden and then our younger fans will start threads about how you're now our biggest rival

Dude, your HC is OCD to the max. The choice of the bye week is very carefully planned.

As long as LSU stays at a high level, I couldn't care less whom we call a rival.

Bama has been our thorn since Saban arrived and they're the biggest obstacle most years.

Just look at the schedule and tell me where a better place for a bye week would be. We just had four tough SEC games in a row, with a cupcake before them. Now we get a bye with LSU, MSU, cupcake, AU, and the SECCG coming up. This is the perfect time.

Biggest game yes but biggest rivalry no. Until Saban got to Alabama LSU had won five in a row. Prior to that The series was pretty lopsided most years. After Saban retires I think it will go back to what it once was except be a little more competitive game. It will never be Auburn or Tennessee just because there is too much hatred for the other two.
