Breh, no rivals but seriously if you keep denying the rationale.

It's really not that ridiculous of a notion. I would put the Iron Bowl over this, but I think it's silly to pretend TSIO is on the same level as LSU right now, when it's already a second fiddle rivalry for Bama in the first place. For me, it's like the LSU-Ole Miss rivalry. A lot of history and hate but not directly in-state and it doesn't have the same feel. Bama's younger generation of fans is having to force themselves to hate Tennessee because that's what they are supposed to do.

I think there is probably more hate from the LSU side these days due to the Saban angle and a lack of a true rival, but I think it's silly to pretend Bama doesn't care more about this than the Tennessee game. In 2011, Tuscaloosa basically shut down their entire bar scene the night LSU beat them (would not happen in BR). There's definitely some passion on both sides.

The Iron Bowl is a bigger "rivalry". Alabama-LSU may be the SEC's premiere "game" each year, but its not close to being the biggest rivalry.

And even still, Alabama and Auburn (this year aside) has arguably been a bigger game as of late than Alabama-LSU.

SEC West Champions:

2014- Alabama
2013- Auburn
2012- Alabama
2011- Alabama
2010- Auburn

The last 5 division titles were won by either Auburn or Alabama. The last time LSU won the West, Bama ended up being the National Champion.

While Auburn is always hot or cold, they've been Alabama's biggest nemesis over the past 5 years. Add to that the fact that the rivalry is far more nasty and its a no-brainer as to what game is the biggest rivalry in the SEC.

Game I would want to win most is the SECCG, because it's literally the best way to be one of the final four playoff teams.

IT's the biggest game in the SEC now, I still wouldn't call it Bama's biggest and best rivalry. Auburn is always going to be #1, and Tennessee is #2. I consider LSU #3, though lately they've been gaining more and more ground on the Viles.

2003-LSU
2001-LSU

You can't just throw out the 2001,2003,2005 and 2007 SEC Titles to fit the narrative you are trying to push.

Bama fans are intimidated by the success that Saban started at LSU and the goofy guy called "The Mad Hatter" has continued. Sure they have the upper-hand in the series the past four years. But they are not fools. They know Saban woke the sleepng giant that is LSU football and will have to deal with this monster for the foreseable future.

No

Bama has more success than any program, no amount of success will ever intimidate us. Maybe if ND/USC/Mich went on a big run.

Again, Florida has filled that role MORE than LSU. In terms of simply being a really important big game for both teams with national implications. But at no point did Florida become a bigger rival than UT

Going back to 14 years ago to try to show some more LSU hardware defines trying to "fit a narrative". If you are judging the real-time relevance of a rivalry, looking back to just the last 5 years or so makes far more sense than ignoring the last 5 and going back to an era in which Bama wasn't even competitive (2000-2007) to try to justify LSU's credentials.

LSU has one West Title since 2008. And they weren't the best team in the league that year either. Bama won that National Title.

Look we all know that Bama-LSU is a big game this year, as it is most years. But lets not re-write history and pretend its something that it is not.

It's not even a top 5 "rivalry" in the conference.

Bama fans claimed all through the 2000s that Tennessee was their biggest rival, which was a joke then too.

A rivalry stays a rivalry even if both teams have losing records. If Bama and LSU were to find themselves at the bottom of the division in 5 years, then the Bama-LSU game would be no more relevant than what Florida-Tennessee has been the last 5 years: just a game.

You sure about that one? You're a Georgia fan, you must remember the eventual beatdown LSU gave you in the SECCG that year.

The game is important

It's not a rival game. Ya'll have UT for that.

Much bigger. That rivalry always seemed forced, cartoonish and one sided.

It is a big game, not a rivalry. A rivalry is when you hate the other team with a passion and hope they never win another game. I don't really know anyone who feels that way other than Bama fans who live in LA and have to deal with them every day.
